I just left two servers in disgust at the sheer stupidity of teammates.
I fully understand that not everyone has 'mad skillz', or can even shoot straight. I'm fine with that.
What does piss me off is people not even thinking about what they're doing. Everyone has a brain, everyone is capable of looking at what's going on around them and learning, but you see it constantly..
* the entire 32 player team will spawn at one point, facing the entire OTHER team. They will do so with no armor or air support, while at a spawn point two hundred meters away sits an unused tank and APC. No-one bothers to think that there are probably five undefended spawn points they could get in a hummer and drive to. No-one bothers to think that you can divert some of that enemy force, or come at it from another angle. That's a pretty regular one.
* Just had this one: Songhua stalemate. US side, we've lost our main base (of course). I head back there, as a medic.. it just so happens there's a Spec Ops guy with me. We run up the back stairs, into the covered walkway next to the flag. Well.. I do. Mr Spec Ops is busy running all over the place looking for people to kill. An enemy APC is there. enemy APC knows we are there and is firing on us steadily. Despite this, Mr Spec Ops is still determined to plant some C4 on it. A second enemy is also on foot, trying to kill us. He succeeds on Mr Spec Ops (who's also given away my position), whom I revive, before running back to the flag. Mr Spec Ops, with a second chance at not being a retard and just capturing the flag, proves that sometimes you should just let 'em lay there, and runs off and gets himself killed again. Once again, out come the paddles, and once again, off he goes.
Just cap the flag. You're not going to plant C4 on an APC that knows you're there and you're not already in throwing distance of. At least neutralise the flag, so that when you do kill those guys, they stay dead. Once it's yours, then deal with the bad guys.
Protect your main base - your Arty, UAV and Scanner are all there, the commander's fucked without 'em.. not to mention that there's usually powerful vehicles.. tanks, planes, helos that you want for your side, not your enemies. Conversely, try to take theirs
Seriously. This stuff seems straightforward to me. Avoid head-on fights unless you have the clear advantage. Try to flank your opponent. Protect your assets and attack those of your opponent. Work to your strengths, take advantage of enemy weaknesses.
It can't be that difficult a concept to comprehend, why the fuck do so many people not seem to?
PS: anyone got any more gripes to add?
