Justin, tell me the specs on both of those rams.

Are they 184 pin 64x16 8 chip rambus?

its important that they're 8 chip, not the 4.

JustinCase

They are 184 pin, I'm not sure how to tell if it's 8 chip or 4. I wasn't aware of any difference.

Here are the part number's if they mean anything. You can probably find out after a little investigating, but I could find any further info

Kingston: KTH-XU800/512
HP: 1818-8542

If anything, I could ship them to you, if they don't work out I'll refund your money, minus shipping costs which wouldn't be more than 4 bucks at the most. I know that probably seems sketchy but I'd like to think I'm trusted.

Yeah i'd trust ya. Lemme do some dirty work first and see if they're 8 chip.

The reason it matters is my particular motherboard needs 8 chip to get the 533 fsb from my processor. If they're 8 chip you've got a buyer no doubt.

Did these both come out of the same computer? And if you could, get me a closeup clear picture of the labels.

The parts are actually back home, next time I go back I can get some more if you'd like

The ram came right off that mobo, Intel D850GB

Nicodemus

Ya i have the Intel D850EMV2.

After looking at the specs on that motherboard I doubt they're 8 chip because the board only supports 400 fsb, so they're probably the 4 chip.

Alright, after spending quite a while researching all this crapola, I've found that your ram isn't "what i'm looking for", however, I might be able to still use it. I plan on talking to someone tomorrow about it, and i'll let you know whats up.

sounds good, just let me know

K after a lot of lookin around, I learned more how to identify the difference in the ram.

This ram comes in two forms, and on top of that, is identified in two different ways, which is gay.

One form is the "8 chip" or the "800-40". Thats for 533mhz FSB Processors.

The other is the "4 chip" or the "800-45". Thats for the 400 FSB processors.

If you have a 533 FSB Processor and you use the 800-45, it drops your cpu 25%.

But if you have a 400 FSB processor, you can still use the 800-40 at 400.

So my 2.4gig would be running at 1.8gig if I used it. Which is crap.

So anyways, now you know more about your ram, and I learned that the idiots who came up with rambus are stupid. :)

JustinCase

gotcha, the ram was used with the p4 1.8 I'm selling which has 400fsb
