I flashed my bios last night to the latest version and now have problems booting. After flashing, I was able to boot and enter bios. Upon looking at the new bios, I saw that the section for memory and cpu timings looked very different from all previous bios versions, including options that I had never seen before. I tried setting it up as close to the way I had it set up before, by memory. That's where the trouble started.
Now I can not boot the system when I have both sticks of memory onboard. Either stick by itself boots the system fine. I've tried all combinations of putting the two sticks in the three dimm slots, none will allow the system to boot.
Additionally, one of the new bios features is S.M.A.R.T. HDD detection, which I enabled. Now when I boot (with one stick of memory), after detecting the IDE devices, the bios tells me that hard drive failure is imminent, yet when I press F1 to continue, it boots and i can enter windows normally.
So I'm confused as to what went wrong.
Specs:
A64 3200+
MSI K8N Neo Platinum bios 1.9
1gb (2x512) pc3200 ddr crucial
Maxtor 200gb ide 8mb
Should I try to reflash the bios?
edit: I've just noticed that MSI has pulled the v1.9 bios from their website :(
