My motherboard took a dump after 2 years of service...Im torn between spending tons of cash I dont have on replacing the whole system or just the motherboard. These are my current core specs:

Leadtek Winfast K7NCR18G
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton) @ 3000+
Kingston HyperX 1GB (512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
Sapphire ATI Ultimate Radeon 9700 Pro
DELL UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1-inch LCD
Antec Truepower 430
2x ATA hard drives

My friend is willing to sell his old K7NCR18D PRO II for $20, but I wanted to get the best motherboard that I could still use my components in. That way I can dump my CPU for like $40 and upgrade, or GPU for $50 and upgrade, etc.

I'd say ditch the CPU and vid card and invest in a S939 PCI-E mobo. Apparently you're into overclocking, so a 3200+ Venice would do fine for you. Couple that with a high-end DFI board and you have a good chance to get it to 2.6 GHz. Vid card depends on what you're using the comp for really... I run HL2 at medium detail smoothly with a 6600GT.

Yep. I think if I bought a new motherboard right now, it'd be a DFI NF4 Inifinity.

well why not buy 939 amd and a elite board that has both agp and pc express. that why you dont need to change cards cuz after xmas the prices of cards drop.

He can still get an x800XT later on, which should last him quite a while.

Fuk, I just clicked the link and it went up $16 since yesterday...bitches.

Wanted to be able to use my AGP card and CPU if possible.

If you want to buy a new vid card now, then go PCI-E. Buy an AGP board only if you want to keep your 9700 for a while, as AGP will fade away not very far from now.

Borrowing an ASUS A7V400-MX until I decide what to do exactly.
