I'm trying to get some advice/guidance here. Right now I have two computers sitting next to eachother that each run off a wireless network card. I haven't been able to hardwire them (yet) because I haven't ran wires under the floorboards yet. SO.. in the meantime.. I'm wanting to try something else. I've heard about using a router as another access point.. and having one router talk to the main router for internet connectivity. Is this true, and how does one achieve it?
Cliff notes:
I want to achieve this - Modem->Router1->Router2->My Two Computers. How do I get Router1 and Router2 to talk to eachother?
p.s. - don't tell me to google it.. i did google it and didn't really come up with much. not phrasing it correctly i suppose.

If I understood correctly you have a wired router and a wireless router and you wanting to use the wireless one as an ap. All you should have to do is plug a network cable from the wired router on lan port to a lan port on the wireless router. Turn off dhcp on the wireless router and change the address of it to something like 192.168.0.2 and have the wired router as 192.168.0.1 with dhcp on.
Hope that helps.
*edit the more i read the first post the more i am thinking you are talking about two wireless routers. I am not sure you can do that with 2 wireless routers, I believe you have to have a bridge to do that. But I could be wrong.

Yes, both routers are wireless. And I haven't had much luck so far.. thanks for the input, though.

ok what you need to do, depends on your router make, you have 1 router use a network cable to connected to an access point now what you need to do now is get another accesspoint plug it somewhere in the house to extend your distance this ap acts as a repeater. now some companies offer flash upgrades. what you really need to do, is go to the manifactures forums and ask what you need to have a wireless repeater.

You need to bridge them.
Wireless AP 1 - access to internet.
Wireless AP 2 - set up as client to AP1 - Hardwire comp into this one.
To do this you will need at least 1 linksys router with the Alchemy firmware installed. That will allow you to set it up as a client on another wireless network. Once you do this it will not allow clients to connect to it via wireless so you must hardwire the comp into it.
Have fun.
