First, some specs:
Windows XP Professional x64 edition
Athlon 64 3400+
1024mb PC3200 RAM
ATI Radeon x800pro
Onboard 10/100/1000 NIC from nVidia
Ok, here's what's going on. A while back I started getting some sporatic Mapserver Disconnects. As this only happened once in a long while, It didn't bother me and I would simply relog and continue playing.
Lately, though, I can rarely play for more than 5 minutes at a time before disconnecting. I NOTICED it happening after the Issue 5 patch, but I could be jumping at shadows in this case.
I've followed the support section's advice and turned off checksum offload and "save power" on my nic, I've changed video drivers, dxdiag shows no errors, and I've opened up all the ports on my (new) router.
Since I've moved since I5, and replaced my router and modem, I don't think think it's my networking equipment, since it happened on both sets of equipment. I have my ports forwarded, but I won't claim that I'm not missing something.
I don't think it's a bug with my 64bit system, either, because one of my coworkers is getting the same issue (and yet another one isn't, and we all live in different parts of town).
The only common thread between my AMD system and my similarly afflicted coworker's Intel system is that we both use ATI video cards, while the coworker with NO problems is using an nVidia. We're all on the same ISP.
I've turned off AA and AF, but I can't help but think it's the video card causing a conflict.
Pings to their login server go through just fine, and a tracert shows nothing amiss.
Can anybody point me to something I may have missed, or something you suggest I try? I've tried several versions of the catalyst drivers, but unfortunately I don't have any nVidia cards to put in to see if it fixes it.
Copied/Pasted from the CoH forums because they're no help.
