tips for firemaw?

our tank is getting owned by the flame buffet. what is working for everybody here?

Stacking up fire resist to the maxx.
Should resist *alot*.
We even had our tank get 25 of them and managed to survive somehow :/

well we figured out a start that works somewhat. still can't kill him. everybody stands in the bottom room then pull firemaw to the top room with a tank standing next to a pillar walking backwards. this is good since everybody else isn't getting hit by flame buffet and our mt has enough fr. he's gotten 400 fr buffed before.

the problem now is wing buffet. we've figured out that he will randomly (or so we believe) do it twice which completely clears his agro and then he agros priest up at the top or somebody at the bottom even when we are just wanding then resets himself. pissing us off.

have warriors run in and taunt right before he wing buffets. that way the mt doesn't lose aggro.

yeah we can do that really easily, the problem we have now is predicting the wing buffet.

we've tried timing it, but it seems to be different each time. is it based off of mob health or something else like that?

it cools down every 30 seconds, then he uses it usually within 5 seconds after its cooled down, sorta like mag fear.

yes. and its giving my guild nightmares.

yeah that's a bug that was supposed to be fixed in the last patch?

Is this the encounter after Vael?

We just got past Vael last night. Then we attempted next room, wiped, and that sucked the life right outta the raid. Going again tonight.

Yeah, and it's a real pain in the ass.

I really do think that reducing the character model seems to have some effect on it, as on our successful attempt our MT drank a noggenfogger to become a slightly smaller model (pirate) we had no problem with random pathing. However, that fight we did switch MT's over then back because the flame buffet had stacked too high on out MT, so that may have prevented it somehow, not sure...

It will be a week or two before we can be a little more certain.

Someone said a long time ago that there were rumors that differing heights among taunting tanks or larger modeled characters (humans/NE) caused it, and while it may or may not be true, it couldn't hurt to have all your tanks drink some noggenfogger IMO, at least until it's fixed.

if our tank wears 315 FR in DI gear and epics, he gets owned by the shadowflame/thrash combo. if he drops some FR for stamina, he survives it but we lose a ton of mana efficiency and can't last the fight. what do you gear your MT's with?

Our MT has full FR on from what I understand. You need basically max FR to have a good chance of resisting the buffets so that they dont stack past 5 or so. I guess I was lucky but I even resisted enough to stay in for around 2 full rounds as a rogue at 260 FR fully buffed. Its rare though.

We don't have too much of a problem keeping him up. The problem is firemaws random walkings. We had him at 50% the other day and firemaw decided he didn't like where he was standing so took 5 steps to the right, then 5 steps back at the tank. Unfortunatly this was all it took to get the casters and healers being hit by the flame buffet and we couldn't get him back into his old position quick enough.

I think it's stupid that they make a fight where the only way to survive is to use line of sight to block flame buffet from 90% of your raid.

We just started Firemaw yesterday and are trying to figure out the wing buffet because its owning us. Are you sure it completely clears his agro, or does it just reduce the agro of the mt?

Rotate tanks + Ranged DPS

killed him last night. problem...the off tank. dps was good since we never pulled agro. it was the healers/tanks that were messing up. our off tank isn't the brightest guy in the world but he was brought in from another guild to try and help us in bwl. well we get tired and switch him out with our old off tank and bam firemaw dies. priest gear and the fist weapon. server first for it i think. shortly after on the trash mobs the wand dropped. i was watching my roommate play since I didn't get in and that would have been a perfect item to waste all my dkp on before I quit
