Little exploit to help those on the vael encounter

It basically just allows you to do maybe one more attempt before he despawns. I found this out a few weeks back just playing around with a rogue. We spawed vael and got him to 28% with the 2 of us (nurf rogues and warlocks). Well after about our 4th naked death I sent my eye at him and he agro'ed the eye and gave us the essence of the red buff (+500 mana every second for those that don't know), but didn't turn to attack us. The rogue shot him 2 seconds later and then we died so we had to test it again to see if it was just delayed or not.

Sure enough, he would give us the buff but wouldn't agro. Reason being the eye doesn't pull agro back to the warlock and since he doesn't agro the whole zone, we were safe. It's only useful purpose is let you buff up quicker since you don't need to drink water. It might give you 1 maybe 2 extra attempts. Once your guild knows how to get the tank changes down though it won't help you that much. Just gives you more chances to learn the encounter. Also you can't do it for the first attempt since he's not agroable until you talk to him.

Does he re-buff when you engage for real?

yes we've had it accidentally proc after someone got too close or something once. scared the shit out of us and we thought we had a wipe incoming.

it affords a few seconds for buffing

Yeah. You can have your warlocks send in a chain of eyes and each one will buff you. He does it the every time he's initially agroed. Once his hatelist clears, he'll rebuff next time something gets on his hatelist. If there was someway to take him out of combat, then I wouldn't be surprised if he redid his buff once he got back into combat.

Works good for buffing, and gives the MT 100 rage on engage, saves a split second before the first sunder. Thanks. =p

Yeah that was the other benefit I forgot to mention. Only played a warrior for a day but aren't there buffs from a warrior that require rage? We would have a warrior group with the rogues and give them battle shout but I'm not sure if that requires rage or not.

It does, but you can get 20 rage from Bloodrage, and Battle Shout only takes 10, so it's not really a big deal. Hell, it doesn't even *really* matter for the MT.
