XP Pro vs. XP Pro x64

Was seeing if anyone had any personal experience with the differences between XP Pro and XP Pro x64. I'm in the midst of building my new computer and need to figure out as to which one I should go for. 64 bit seems promising, but I heard that it's rather buggy and doesn't mesh well with some other programs. On the other hand, the reviews I read about it were late last year to early this year.

So if anyone has any practical input, please share.

Only issue I know of is a lack of 64 bit drivers for a lot of devices, but manufacturers are starting to remedy that. If you can find 64 bit drivers for all your devices, then I see no reason not to go that way.

I don't think there are a lot of compatibility issues anymore, but I wouldn't expect many performance gains yet (especially with games).
