why do DVI cables support lower refresh rates than analog cables?Nomad 09-08-2005, 03:36 PM I upgraded my cable on my lcd monitor. In other words, windows is only going to show the settings that the specific monitor has. If you changed the signal, your monitor is running in a different mode... so is isnt surprising that signal related settings are different. also, I dont think LCD panels have a refresh rate. most lcds have an optimal resolution. Basically just run it at that and thats as crisp and brilliant as it will look. I dont know that much about it though... just my 2 cents Hurricane Harold 09-24-2005, 06:29 PM LCDs have a refresh rate. They have to be sent the information from the video card a certain rate, like CRTs, usually at 60hz or 75hz (aka 1 refresh/16.6ms or 1 refresh/13.3ms). Higer refresh rate lets you have a higher maximum framerate, and so a bit more smooth picture. The pixels stay on though, so it doesn't affect "flickering" like on CRTs. And I have no idea about the problem  | ||
