obvously they had a pretty well thought out plan of defense and when virtually an entire neighborhood comes together and works as a team i will not, nor can i call him or anyone in his neighborhood a dumbass for staying, its the fucksticks who think they can wait it out with 8 of thier family members in one house with a 2 day supply of water and food who i call dumbass's

your obligation may be only to your family, but some feel a greater obligation to their neighbors and freinds, and who are you to call him a dumbass for staying and trying to protect not only his property, but the property and livlihood of his freinds and neighboors


That is really my point he made the same decision as then did and could have just as easily became a liability as they did, he didn’t make it out because he had a better plan he was lucky to have made it out.

Boohoo, he killed some people! Assuming this story is true, even the police didn't seem to give much of a fuck about killing looters. It seems with all the people who need help AND the looting, raping, etc, their ( police'n stuff ) resources could be spread a little thin. Either that or they could not possibly cover and protect every neighborhood.

People need to protect what little they have left. What if the owner of the television was home and demanded the looter to get out? I'm sure he'd pull his little gun on the home owner without a second thought.

Were I in a similar situation, I'd create an armed neighborhood watch as well and I'm sure YOU ( and you people know who you are ) would do the same or something similar.

everyone is making this out to seem like hes such a bad guy for defending his stuff, are you serious? i mean, i've seen almost everyone in this thread yell at someone who posts about how they stole this or that and called them criminals and faggots for stealing, yet youre perfectly O.K. with letting some kids, who are STEALING for NO reason, get away with it? i can understand food, whatever. but tvs/computers/other electronics that cost a good deal of money, along with jewlery and valuables that people place alot of sentimental value on can be almost as important to people as their own family, and who are you to tell them they are wrong in protecting what they RIGHTFULLY own? hypocracy ++

Sure, no one thinks kids who steal should 'get away with it', but that doesn't mean they should be shot dead. Stealing a TV doesn't get you the death penalty anywhere, so why should it suddenly do so now just because of a natural disaster?

I have thought about this thread a lot over the last couple of days. I would like to point out that the NEIGHBORHOOD is one of the strongest units in our society and it is too granular to be represented politically.

Choose your neighbors wisely. You never know when you are going to be fighting alongside of them.

im certianly not advocating shooting a child for stealing a tv, youre taking me out of context

i would tell the kid, as code4 did, to put down the tv and get the fuck outa my nieghborhood, and if he refused i'd draw my weapon, and if he drew one too then id shoot him, but only if the situation esclated that far, the pistol/shotguns main purpose would be scare tatics and secondary would be self protection

This type of thing is fascinating to us outside the USA. We have nothing like that level of 'neighbourhood unity' or whatever. I'm friends with all the people around where I live, but i never consider having to fight along side them. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, I'm not sure. Interesting nonetheless.

It has nothing to do with the fucking TV, get off that fucking arguement.

It has everything to do with the kid reaching for a fucking gun. Just pretend the TV is not there, and he reaches for a gun. What do you do?

Also, these people have to put up a tough front. If they appear weak and helpless then evey fucking thug in the area would be there to take advantage of them.

Since they weren't easy prey, and people were able to go escape their neighborhood to let others know about this I fucking bet money that they prevented more thugs from returning. You can call thugs and crooks dumb all you want, but when they know that their potential vicitims have weapons and will use them they will do the smart thing and avoid robbing them.

I think this would be more like choose your neighborhood wisely. You don't have control over who your neighbors will be.

Its a fascinating thread. I have no problem with codefire shooting off some rounds in self defense. If someone was stealing my stuff and then pulled a gun you either shoot or end up dead.

If code didn't fire, and got shot and killed what are the chances they ever find his murderer? I mean most of those guns are stolen and not registered. wow, autopsy shows a bullet wound, guns not registered, group burial.
