Yeah so I went to Cox chat support and didn't get help for shit. So I would like to ask some of you guys on here to see what you think the problem might be.

Well here's the problem: Every couple hours or so my cable modem goes out. On it the Cable light starts blinking slowly and the data light goes out entirely, indicating the connection was lost or cannot be found. I usually unplug the power cord and plug it back in, and in a minute or so it reconnects, putting aside the possibility that my connection was bad. This wasn't just a one day occurrence either, it keeps happening. I don't know why the connection keeps getting dropped like this. Even the Cox Support person claimed my connection was fine, which I knew anyways. Anyone know what's wrong?

Thank you

I'm not sure if any of those are the problem, but who knows maybe you're right. Thank you for suggesting them. Cox wants me to go to their local store and have them test my modem out. Should I do that?

Well why not?. At least that will rule out the modem.

More likely is the bad wiring. We had similar issues with cable internet. Didn't find out it was the cable wire until we got digital cable and the picture was shit. Turns out the run from the main box outside to my house was bad. New cable and things are all sorted out.

how many splitters do you have behind the modem? usually this is a sign of an underpowered signal, if you have only one splitter, replace it.
