I finished building my new computer, everything is plugged in and running well, but my DVD/CD Rom drive isn't being recognized.

It's a Pioneer Black IDE DVD Burner Model DVR-110DBK.

It's got the master setting on and it is plugged into the Primary IDE slot (plugging it into secondary didn't work so I switched). My Hard Drive is SATA so it doesn't need an IDE slot. It is being recognized just fine. But on boot, it comes up that I have no primary master IDE drive... so I can't get my boot disk to install windows or anything at the moment. I'm just stuck.

Full specs:
- ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX
- BFG Tech BFGW68256GTOCXV Geforce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
- Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model KVR400X64C3AK2/2G
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823AS 250GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
- Pioneer Black IDE DVD Burner Model DVR-110DBK

Oh, and I know the power to the drive is working because when I press the button and stuff it opens up.

I've also tried setting it to CS instead of master and that did nothing.

HELP! Need this comp in 100% good condition by Saturday.

check the bios to set it as 1st boot, if not use another dvd to test it.

No, in the bios where it lists all the hardware... it shows "Primary IDE Master: None" ... it doesn't even see the drive as being there. My problem isn't that it isn't recognizing DVDs/CDs that I put in it (namely the windows XP install/boot disk), it's that the drive itself is like it isn't even there.

And it already is set to 1st boot.

have you got any more ide cables? swap them then try, get another dvd drive to test, connect the ide 80pin cable to ide port 2 on the motherboard. check bios advanced bios features and intergrated peripherals to see if ide is on auto.

also check website for bios updates or problems

Done all of that... bios updates don't mention anything about IDE drives not being recognized.

did it find your other dvd drive?

DVD/CD drive are the same thing... there was only one drive. I called the manufacturer of the mobo, got a replacement, and now everything is in tip top condition.
