Just like they said they would at Quakecon, id have released the source code for Quake 3. I wonder if this will hurt <a href=http://www.garagegames.com>Garage Games</a> at all? They have an amazing community, but I could see this eating into sales of the Torque engine. Of course, the Torque Shader Engine is due out soon, so maybe that won't happen at all.

Anyway, grab the source code from <a href="http://www.filecloud.com/files/file.php?file_id=2018">Filecloud</a>.

EDIT: apparently id pulled the source from their site and its now available via all the file services.

Torque to Q3? Afaik, Q3 wasn't built for large environments, and considering the price tag, 100 bucks, 2 hours of a programmers time just to begin to add that feature is already worth the investment in Torque (or 1 hour of you're a badass c0d3r d00d!)

not to mention TSE blows away the Q3 engine obviously.

Torque engine is $100 per programmer, and not all torque projects need the large outdoor environments. I'm not saying that the Q3 engine is better, just that it may hurt sales. But then again, I think they (GG) are counting on most people moving to the torque shader engine when it comes out.
