Logitech were at Quakecon pimping not only their new gaming mice, but their gaming keyboard, which is due for release in October.
<blockquote>
Designed to provide an unprecedented level of programmability and control, Logitech (SWX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) today announced the Logitech® G15 keyboard — the ultimate keyboard for serious PC gamers. The first keyboard in the G-series family of gaming-grade peripherals, the Logitech G15 features a built-in auxiliary LCD display, 18 programmable keys, and advanced software, making it easy to set up custom commands for every game. The adjustable-tilt, backlit LCD can be programmed to display vital in-game information, or data from other applications, without interrupting game play.
</blockquote>
The coolest feature looks to be the LCD display. They are releasing an SDK so game develoeprs can take advantage of the LCD display (the first game will be the Brothers in Arms sequel). I could see this being used for some very cool things....IRC anyone?

There were a few threads in GD about something like this, but logitech wasn't involved... good to see the idea in production though, I'll probably get one.. eventually.

yeah, that keyboard that was discussed in GD was where each KEY was a LCD, allowing you to have custom icons on any key you wanted. This keyboard has a LCD screen attached to it, where you can display game info, or hopefully with the SDK, IRC chat (or instant messages, etc)

no, its a regular keyboard with several extra keys that can be programmed to game fuctions. in addition to the keyboard, it has a small LCD screen attached to it, which can display ingame info (if the developer codes it in) and anything else people can dream up with the SDK.

Hm, I really don't see the point here.. you can get all that information from your hud and you don't have to tilt your head down. It might be useful for irc/xfire/etc access while in-game though. Plus those extra buttons way on the left seem out of the WASD/ESDF/RDFG range.. your pinky would have a lot of work there.

I dunno.. I guess the price will determine if it's worth it or not.

The other keyboard with screened keys looks so much cooler.
I don't think it's coming out for awhile though--pretty damn expensive too.
