Was typing emails on my computer earlier tonight and it suddenly shut off. Nothing happens when I turn it back on again.

No fans spin up (at all).
No BIOS beep
BUT the power LED on the mobo is on

Mobo is an IS7. P4 3.0, 256x4 TwinX LL pc 3200 ram.
ATI 9800 pro.
SB2 Audigy
Netgear ethernet card.

I figure the power supply probably died, even though the power light on the mobo is on. Unfortunately all the computer stores in town are closed, so I wont get to test my theory until tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Anything else I can try tonight before I spend $70 or so on a new PS?

Yes, you definately get what you pay for with PSUs.

Could be your PSU or motherboard. You could check the voltage on your PSU. That's about the only way to tell AFAIK.

it could be the chip or psu, normally when the board lights up it means its working, try disconnecting your cd drives and have you a cheap pci card if you do use that and take out your agp card, i went out and got a cheap pci card for a few pounds always good to have. what you wanna have connected is card and hdd everything else disconnect see if the board starts up.
