Gamespot <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/08/11/news_6130844.html">scored</a> some new details about Quake Wars, the upcoming game from the same team that made Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
<blockquote>
The new game will use a new "megatexture" technology developed by John Carmack, of id Software, that will let the developers create environments that render terrain all the way out to the horizon (rather than forcing the game to occlude parts of the landscape with fog or other effects to cover up a limited draw distance).
</blockquote>
This is the one game I am looking forward to. The 'new' megatexture sounds pretty cool. No longer will map makers have to add extra fog and take out trees and bases to make a map perform decently!

Sounds cool.

Is Dave G. at Quakecon? I'll only go if Dave G. is there.

This "megatexture" sounds very interesting to me, I can't wait to see a sample/demo of it.

Carmack always said he wanted to work on a more warfare team style of game. Maybe this is the first step. Would be cool to step out of the box.
