Now, I am a Stargate fan, series has been great over the last 9 years. Atlantis is currently kicking total arse, but SG1 hasn't been worth much the last few seasons. So upon hearing that that game based on the SG1 series (which was slated for release this october) has been canned doesn't really upset me to much. I have loved the series, but I really can't see them making a game which would actually be worth playing. Unless of course the storyline revolved around meeting the Furlings.

Now, for those of you who were looking for the game, there is a possibility that it will be picked up by another Dev house. The official statement from JoWooD is that:
<blockquote>"In recent months we have invested a lot of time and resources in helping Perception finish the development, but we now simply have lost confidence in their ability to finish this project in time and sufficient quality."</blockquote>
and
<blockquote>"After delivery of the code and assets JoWooD will review the possibility of seeking out developers if it is economically viable to finish the title" reports Michael Paeck, Executive Producer for JoWooD Productions Software AG. "We are, however, not prepared to release anything but a top quality title. Fans of the show as well as gamers would not accept anything less. There are several options to consider, among them potentially moving to next-gen consoles for the title."</blockquote>
So it may re-appear. My comment to JoWooD is not to bother unless what they are gonna release is gonna be a must play for people who like the series to get more information on the stargate universe. Not some crappy boring steaming pile of rat turd loosely based on Stargate.

If JoWood canned the project because it wasn't up to quality... :scared:

And while we are talking about JoWood, they are closing Massive Development, creators of the Krass Engine and AquaNox games. Massive will be allowed to finish their port of AquaNox2 to the PS2 and will be closed afterward. I loved the AquaNox games and was hoping for a a third. :(

lol, so they canceled a somewhat cool looking Stargate mod for a game that never even came out.

"On 16th of December every member of the Dev-team of the freeware game "Stargate SG1", including me, received a cease-and-desist letter from a MGM attorney. This basically means the end of this project, not long before the first beta would've been released. There's an article at avault.com.
As a side note, keep in mind that all communication from us to MGM was simply ignored for over 2 years. Also note that MGM plans to announce their own official Stargate SG1 game in early 2003, targeting a release in Fall 2003. Then count two and two together..."
