[weapon upgrade] is it 1000 combat points, 1000 total points, or CPL rank?

When you get to lance corporal you get the unlock. And every rank gained thereafter. From Lance corporal to the next is painfully slow. I'm only 1/3 of the way there.

Yeah its full auto which is nice. Gonna get the SAW upgrade next rank.

with everyone unlocking the medic weapon there will be plenty of them around to pick up after I kill you.

Speaking of switching packs from the bags on the ground, you guys do know you can bind that to the E key right? If you're using the wasd setup it makes switching all that much easier.

just add:

ControlMap.addKeyToTrigge rMapping c_PIDrop IDFKeyboard IDKey_E 10000 1

under the header:

ControlMap.create InfantryPlayerInputContro lMap

in your controls.con file located in:

\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

with this I can still enter and exit vehicles/stationary weapons but also switch packs in the field a lot faster than stretching for the G key.

Well, when the gameplay rocks you don't want to stop. It's those unbalanced games with shitty commanders that get me to take a break.

And how do you get the unlocked weapons? I've been a lance corporal for a couple days now and never given the chance...

Right when you login to the Multiplayer screen it should give you the chance do pick a weapon.

I suggest everyone do the little unlock trick and playing around with it in SP before picking a weapon.

EIDT: And Col, unlockable weapons can be stolen from packs. If you see an assault with the G3 go down, switch packs and try it out in MP.

When you login after attaining the Rank of Lance Corp it should bring up a screen that allows you to unlock a weapon before continuing on to the server browser.

I've heard some people complaining it taking a couple days before the game acknowledges you actually have Lance Corp. My friend was Private First Class for a few. It seemed everytime he entered a server he would gain Lance Corporal about 4 times.
