I honestly thought SWAT 4 would have a bevy of support and development behind it especially with all the issues and angst within our community over TV.

Lol now they cant just blame it on the Tribes community anymore. Apparently The SWAT 4 folks are re-discovering all that is ugly in the non-patched TV engine.

In their own way, VU has screwed themselves and we didnt have to do anything.

deja vu, but like menzo said, more people are into it. who knows, again, like we've said many times, irrational did a great job with t:v, but its not finished and some items are critical to a tribes brand. thats all i think people want, not the world.

In before lock!! :) gotta love this quote...

"I'm sorry that some of you have issues with a portion of the multiplayer part of the game, but to suggest that this makes the game unplayable or broken is really blowing things out of proportion."

I'm not sure what's so wrong about that quote.

T:V is very playable.. If you personally dont' enjoy playing the game, doesn't make it "unplayable" or "broken". T:V is pretty solid. No more or less than any other game.

yeah, it's not "unplayable", or "broken", it's just "shit".

T:V multiplayer is playable to a point... 24+ players usually start lagging up the game and then also various other underlaying problems. For the most part it's working, but I wouldn't really call it fully as advertized working. I think their main consern for T:V was that as long as the single player part of the game worked out of the box they didn't really care too much about the multiplayer part.

Anyway I just thought it was funny cause it was very simliar to what was said about T:V. But looking through the SWAT 4 forums seems like they already have their fair share of problems, some of which remind me of T:V. It's just a real shame but I have the general feeling SWAT4 is going to get ganked the sameway as T:V.

It's so funny how they think taking multiplayer community games and making them single player is in some way suggesting the gamers are getting what they asked for.

Do people buy single player games? I only purchase multiplayer games.

Unfortunately most of the masses aren't enthusiasts or familiar with online play, they play x-box or playstation or things like Rollercoaster Tycoon.

The irony, is that I bet you in the future, the bigger market for gaming will be MP games. Its very new for a lot of folks and the consoles are just now introducing it to joe casual player.

Secondly, Mr Hollywood Studio sees games both as a threat and an opportunity, so they figure all this big money can be thrown at a storyline games with crappy video sequences and star voice overs. They see games as a way to immerse the player in a story VS someone playing a good game. They haven't one clue.

The business practices by publishers is a crime. They push this stuff out incomplete, monitor the units sold and then decide if they're going to support their product. Thats exactly what VU is doing with SWAT 4 They wont announce a patch, because they wont bother to provide one if their sales units dont reach some set number. The game industry is different in the fact , that yes, games can cost a lot of money to develop commercially and therefore require proper time to be made. You cant krank out quality games like your baking donuts or something, but you tell Mr Publisher and Wall Street that.

If Panasonic put a microwave oven on the market and a flaw was dicovered, their would be an immediate press release, a possible recall, return, or available fix (You know like a patch). Problem is that these are games, and how does a game really affect your safety..not by much so there not much recourse for the consumer, and yes, they figure most of you are just dumb kids.

Support indie games.
