OK, so my wife's computer has:
ABIT NF7 Mobo
Athlon XP 3200+
512MB Kingston PC3200 RAM
Win XP Pro SP2
Recently, the machine has been randomly restarting. It's not a heat issue. It's not a virus. I'm suspecting a faulty PSU.
What other types of hardware related issues might cause a machine to restart?

usually when the system randomly restarts, its a lack of voltage to the cpu.
make sure your AXP is getting a steady 1.65v.
even if it looks as though it is, if you have a shitty, generic PSU, it'd be worth it get a new one. i'm guessing thats your problem.
otherwise, could be your KVR going bad. but i'd suspect the psu first.

I'm leaning that way, too. It's been restarting randomly ever since I built it a year ago but it's been a lot more frequent recently.
Any recommendations on what PSU to get?

i'm very happy with my antec...
antec, ocz, enermax and fortron are some good names...get at least a 350w -- you may want to go with 400-450w to insure you have room for future growth. and make sure the current on the 12v rail is about 25A or more. i believe my true430 is 26A. having two, temp-controlled fans is a plus.

im running a Thermaltake 480w ps
