What have we got to lose?

We have so many talented people in this community, together we can accomplish something great. We've been let down by the corporations trying to take over the gaming industry, lets show them how to do it right. We can make and release an awesome, innovative game, which would appeal to the masses. We have the graphics talent to compete with the big names and we've got the coders to do the same.

Legends can be a great game, and not only that, a game that rocks the industry.. produced by the community and released for FREE! I urge everyone to give their support to this game in whatever way they can. Let's see how big of a splash we can make.

If you haven't tried it yet, check it out (http://hosted.tribalwar.com/legends/). It's pretty darn close to that "feel" we're all looking for and has unlimited potential. Keep in mind that the game is still being developed, so the graphics and such are pretty much just place holders, but the engine has great capabilities.

I tried legends again for the first time in months. It actually doesn't even look that bad. Plays awsomely, weapons/physics. Just needs some new sounds, updated gfx, and a slew of new maps.

I'll give it a shot. When I first heard of Legends, I thought to myself that I already have Tribes. But now... who gives a damn anymore?

When you folks play the current Legends FORGET everything about the look, models, weapons etc. This game is going to be completely overhauled on the TGE (and eventually to the TSE). When you play Legends, whats important right now is that the feel, the carving ability. physics attributes are in game and you may notice it feels familiar.

I'm postive when some screens come through showing the new Legends and Renegades game a lot of you wont be so ho hum about the game. Additionally the vehicles arent even in game yet. Its just the base framework, but its strong.

Exactly. The main thing right now is that the core feel is in game. Everything else will be revamped a LOT. Models, sounds, textures you name it. I wish Loop or one of the Renwerx folks would comment. I dont want to say too much out of context. Think of this current Legends game like a pre beta. I agree theres a lot that needs to be refined.

k, going to try to d/l legends soon, haven't read too much about it but am interested now... just a thing I am curious about... have you guys played eachother and tested killing eachother? AKA - will I have to watch my disks blow up on people and not do any damage like the nonreg heaven that is t:V? Thanks, looking forward to trying this out.

Legends has never been shy in it's tribes-likeness. If it ever gets big, you can be sure that the project will get stepped on for IPI (Intelectual Property Infringment).

What else could happen?

Well, those T1 and T2 master servers aren't generating any money... how long do you figure they will stay up?

Legends would have to fall under a copyright, trademark, or patent violation. There is no seperate "IP violation". They're trying their best to avoid all of these, and I'm not entirely sure of how Vivendi would nab them. But then, I am no lawyer.

At that, Vivendi probably doesn't even care about Tribes any more.

I will agree that currently I dont like the gameplay in terms of many of the weapons, the disclauncher weapon is slow, no chaingun weapon. But I view the current game simply as a framework, not even the complete game that just needs some new graphics. It will take a bit more than that to make it equal the fun factor of T2C, T1 base and attract a large following, but the base is there, Renwerx is now involved so the graphics will vastly be improved.

There are lawyers and plenty of people who know lawyers in this community who I'm sure would be able to help us if it every got to that point, but lets stop trying to get excuses to avoid what could potentially be a great move for the game and this community.

If we keep hanging on to t1 and t2 we'll never accomplish anything. VU has known that we've been hostile towards their ineptitude for some time and they've now pulled the plug on t:v. We need to let go of them, they've obvioulsy let go of us.. a long time ago.

We've already seen that the community can host its own master servers and Legends is a non-profit project. They already have plans to avoid legal entaglements by carefully avoiding words, phrases, graphics and code which orginated from other Tribes companies.

This is the perfect way to show what a dumb move it was to ignore us, by creating something that they'll never see a dime from and showcase the talent that this long-standing community has to offer.
