Meeting Stones: tips, tricks and rants

FIRST THING i did when i loaded WoW just now after the patch was take my lvl 46 rogue over to Razor Fen Downs and click on the Meeting Stone.

"You do have meet the level requirements for this meeting stone"

i clicked it again...

...then i notice the little "lvls 35-43"

OK, see now, i LOVE this idea. My 2 chars are guildless atm (im holding out for serious pvp/battlegrounds guild) and i play at odd times (like 6am), so this seems like a great idea for me. Likewise, all i really want to do with my 46 rogue is run instances.

Anyways, to continue my explorations i ran over to ZF...

... and find that it simply puts you in a queue to join a party for the instance.

THIS IS COOL!

Who else is in the queue?
How far can i go from the stone?

I decided to do some tests... and flew to Desolace. I never saw a msg about leaving the queue! Hard to be sure, though.

I am now in the maraudon queue and waiting...

Before the patch, I once saw a new symbol along the border of the mini map wit a '?' is in. Highlighted it said "Meeting Stone." When i clicked on it, it asked if i wanted to leave the queue.

Try looking there?

How they mention it is distance is not an issue, and the meeting stone will take your level and class into play when "looking" for groupmates for an instance. But it's on a timer, so the more time goes on the less picky it gets about finding matches.

I assume when it finds five it notifies everyone and teleports them to the stone. I gotta few friends I usually quest with in Eldre'Thalas, I'll gather them up and do some "testing" on the stone and see if some specifics can be had.

Meeting stone = getgankedstone. Horde already camp the instance gates. Can't imagine what they're gonna do with meeting stones.

I have this one nagging quest in maraudon I went back to finish, and as I was alone, I thought id try the meeting stone to find a group (lvl 54 warlock). I got the "you do not meet the level requirement" message as well, which sucks because forming a maraudon group is only slightly easier than forming a hinterlands group...

once you are in a queue, you do not have to stand around like a lemming. it's quite effective, actually, in that you can be in queue for a group and not even be in the same region let alone having to stand by the stone.

It does not teleport you anywhere. You have to hoof it there under your own power.

that royally sucks

why not click on the stone, then walk into the instance? Most instances are safe right at the drop and you can just hang out in there. When its ready to group you walk out - then back in. Not so hard really.
