Random story about DSA:


Their servers have a "base rape is ok, but spawn killing isn't" rule. Following that rule, I was happily enjoying a nice game of heavy loving on Junk. Now this is somewhat true about base too, but with the increased damage and splash of the mortar, base raping can't happen without the occasional spawn kill. Note though that I spent most of my time outside, or circulating around the base and dropping a mortar on the gens when I got there.

One of the DSA guys has bcome the victim of this habit of mine, and I was banned from the server without a warning for about the 3rd kill in 5 minutes. Quickly unplugging my router I joined back (oh the joys of dynamic IP's) and asked why I got banned. A rather long argument between me and the DSA members ensued that lasted until Winterlake came up (about 10-20 minutes). During that time, I didn't get a straight response about why exactly I got banned (not even a hint actually), however their reasoning included (either directly or indirectly) the following:


They take the sentence "Your mod could be more balanced" as an insult. Saying this is qualified as rude language, and is a bannable offense.


Generally, disagreeing with anyone who's wearing the {DSA} tag is insulence makes you a newbie.


They think that the fact that they spent "a lot of time" making that mod entitles them to believe that it is good and doesn't need any more modifications.


They never answer to straight questions, however they try to justify you being wrong by your age and your spot on the Cnet player rankings.


They are convinced that their mod takes more skill than base, and anyone who doesn't agree with them didn't play the mod enough. By 'enough', they most likely mean 'as much as we did'.


They think that the only solution for somebody not liking an aspect of the game is for that person to leave the server. Which makes me wonder, if they didn't like what I was doing, why didn't they just leave?




All in all, these guys have absolutely no idea of what they're doing beyond the scripting stage. They're too arrogant and proud to admit when they fuck up, and will most likely kick or ban you for the slightest implication of that.

Played around them since T2 90% of them are morons.
My clan also scrimmed in there mod and beat them badly, they suck at there own mod.

I played this mod, and consistently pulled 80 points on kills ALONE using the speed pack and sniper rifle. I cleared out a server of 20 people to 4. At least half the server thought I was cheating.

this mod is bigtime fun, i searched their site for a download link, didn't find one. anyone know where i can get a release?

I seem to remember someone in DSA asking me and KW426 to try out a cheat on their server.

Since then I have a slight assumption of all of the DSA players.

HomeLAN did that with ShifterX, a great mod.. but a bigfish, smallpond way to handle the mod and its players.

seriously. i was hoping to see if we could feature it maybe once a week on our server... i guess that wont be happening... maybe i'll try to catch them next time their server isup...

Myopic modders is never good for a game.

That is why Shifter went bye bye in both T1 and T2 and why Renegades will prevail as it did in the past.

It takes a group to work on something like a mod, not one or two people with a specific agenda which is almost always wrife with inconsistencies.

yeah but in t:v is way cooler. they changed the chaingun to the sniper rifle effect, so it leaves these slowly disintegrating spears of red all over the map.

the sniper rifle itself is a bullet only, and it travels somewhat slower comparatively, as you fire the bullet, you see it go off... very cool!

the burner "stars" out into 5 or so sub burners, and all of it looks very impressive, plus makes for some fun dueling as you get out of the way of the spears...

this guy with a buckler was speedpack running through some teammates and just slaughtering them, very cool looking stuff.

also, i suffered absolutely no performance loss despiute all the extra visuals/eye candy, i thought that was awesome...

definitely a fun break from base.
