Wouldn't it be cool...

if in a future patch they completely revamped T:V, with new packs, weapon mods (like a LR targetting correction, and insta-explode MA grenades and mortars), some new vehicles, possibly replacing current ones, new maps, improved network code, and such?

I can't remember what games I've seen it done on, but I know that I've seen it done.

Just a concept. Probably won't happen, but you could spend all day asking the 'what-ifs'...

T2 would be the game you're thinking of...

and T:V sucks too much for reconciliation. Post again if these morons trying to patch T:V atm get their heads out of their rears....

I'll get back to you on that... :P

But really, the VU folks aren't getting much support right now... I don't think they'll have much motivation to cader to us 'spoiled brats'. ;D

I think its funny how everyone is waiting for the patch to save their lives, yet the chance of it actually altering the gameplay in huge quantities (which is required to satisfy the community) is fairly small.

And when this "all-so-awaited-patch" arrives, and its basically still the same game, were gonna se a whole new set of "im leaving" "tribes is dead" "FU vug" threads.

Its gonna be nasty in here.

seriously. the problem with community mechanisms to alter tribes

1. dont get much support (or a lot of disagreement with
2. dont have much exposure/advertising

look at t2. the modders swooped in and the z0dd/ZOD/Sierra combo was a compelling reason to try again later.

no such effort with VU this time around. the community needs leaders and a head to decide what is tribes in the face of 3 different versions now. obviously that head shouldn't be thrax. i would think the TWL ladder leaders would be a good impartial source to decide such things, but it seems like they're having roster issues themselves, or that some members have gone afk.

these are the reasons TT should be helping and giving constructive feedback to projects like compmod and the map pack, and soon to be released modding projects.

i seriously doubt VUgames is gonna come back with a "super patch" to suddenly draw people back in. they can't even say "hi" anymore.

I actually have hope that they will include a GOOD command circuit cause that was a big part of tribes.

If I did somehow by chance get the community behind me on making a mod that could drastically change T:V, I have a concept I think I would use; options. That is, there are many differences between T1, T2, T:V. Why not put ALL of these things into one game but give the server hosts the option to enable/disabled them? I think I brought this up with flag-bouncing while on the ground; a simple check box in the advanced preferences of a server could do the trick. That would give everyone what they wanted. People were like 'no, it would split up the community too much.'

well let me ask you this: do you honestly think that concept would be splitting up the community as much as NOT doing it has done already? I still stand by my opinion, that to give everyone what they want in toggled options would be one of the better ways to go about things.

Heck, I would even consider having a shitload of vehicles from T1 and T2 and TV and even new ones, with the server-side option of setting how much of each vehicle each team can have. So if you want no T:V vehicles, bang, set Rover, Pod, Jump Tank, and T:V Bomber to zero.
