T:V, no matter if you see it as Tribes or something totally diffrent, is a great game. Much better then the other arcade shooters played today. Painkiller is on the big march forward, and i fail to see how this is possible. It got NOTHING even remotely original, and just plain sucks.

UT is hugely popular and i can see why, it is a good game, but not nrealy as clean and interesting as T:V.

UT is a hybrid from Tribes anyway. Unreal sucked as a MP game and they used alot of the T1 concept to make UT even get off the ground.

TV is great, one of the top two or three games out today, period.

This is the way I see it...

The problem is with these T1 fan boys and even T2 fanboys that are expecting the exact same game in a new shell.

Meaning... same speed, same weapons, same velocities, same capabilities, with only improved netcode so they will ping better with their 56k connections, and better graphics to help squeeze a little more life out of their voodoo's ;)

They don't want to have to re-think anything because they have spent way too much of their feeble lives playing only T1. They have played it for so long that anything resembling Tribes that dosen't react exactly the way they expect it to, they hate because it means THEY have to adapt.

For me, I played T1, T2, T2 classic and T:V. I enjoy the innovation from each Tribes game to the next. Each game has it's own unique feel and one is not better than the other. The player simply has to adapt to the different feel.

The players that hate the game are usually the guys that can not adapt and instead up putting in the time to learn a new system, they give up and blame it all on the game itself. Or they don't have a sufficient enough system to allow the game to perform as it was meant to.

but the rest of the gaming world thinks that this game sucks. that is why noone plays it. live with it, those people are neither too lazy to adapt nor are they expecting exactly the same game like t1 or t2.
but what they expected was the same gameplay and thats where TV lost.
the gameplay is totally different from the other 2 games. people gave it a shot, played a bit, decided that it is not their style of gameplay and then dropped it.
or explain to me why TV isnt existant anymore in europe. i mean, it has vanished there. noone plays it. NOONE.

T:V is dirty as hell. The UT games are much much more polished than T:V. That's not saying they're better though.

I don't think tribes isn't popular because people hate it. Not enough people know about it, and actually can understand the concept. Remember, tribes was always somewhat of an underground game.

My friend took one look at the kayvz video and called tribes a 'circus'... a freakin circus. i guess in ways it makes sense, but that just puts tribes to shame if that is all he sees in it.

in fact it amazes me how hyped some games can be, while they really don't deserve the attention they get as opposed to others. and then look at the majority of the people who actually DO play the game online. Dolts, a good lot of them. "I pwn!" "You hack!" "TKer over here!" "My team sucks." "Change the map!" "Grow up!"

And then there are the endless arguments via chat by people who will never meet each other in real life. Instead of playing they sit in a corner and type away. someone kills him and he goes all physco 'leave me alone i was typing! the world hates me!'

all well, i should really stop with this. The point is; yes, people suck. Its human nature to have hubris and be picky and wreck havok, ecspecially in the digital world where it is easy to get away with it.

Its equivalent exchange; you have terrible games everyone plays, and then good games that an exclusive community plays. And yes, I can see this being quoted with a comment like '...But T:V is a terrible game AND no one plays it! Har har har!'

I'm fine with T:V .. . but since they decided to sell it under the Tribes name, I'm pissed off. If it's a different game like you guys claim, then why did they have to ruin the Tribes name. If a game comes out with the Tribes name, I expect it to play like T1 and T2.

All the people ive showed the game to think it seems cool and would like to try it (sadly these are BF1942 and CS mofos refusing to spend quality time with any other game). It also got superb reviews all around when it was released.

Now, i can fully understand the hardcore T1/T2 players leaving this game out, its nothing like the old games, but why isnt there a bunch of new people blasting away in this game? Thats what i cant figure out.

To sum it up:
Most of the people ive talked with about TV (excluding the T1/T2 people) has either no clue to what game it is and cant give an oppinion, or liked it alot.
Only a few have actually played it and not liked it, generally those into realism.

This isn't a new thing, though. It happens in franchises here and there.

Regardless, I still can't put the game down. I guess its a means of opinion.

I'm guessing he would say Ut2k4. Just a guess. So much you can do in that game, its unbelievable.

I skipped around alot during my unreal days, but I ended basically playing Invasion with the RPG mod, lowgrav instagib 4xJump TB enabled CTF, and Bombing Run.

Of course no one cares, and no one but PJ will understand what I'm talking about. :)
