Best place to farm gold for my mount?

at lvl 40... I need gold, where is the best place, in your opinion, to find it?

I got lucky in cathedral, an epic (purple) bow dropped. "Bow of Searing Arrows" and I sold it on AH for 85g.

i just hit 39 and have all of 35g on me. some is lent out to other guildies and i probably wont get it back by the time i hit 40. i do have a blue in the AH that should net me 20g. i havent even done sm yet.

I can never get my stuff to sell in the AH... well, that's not true, I was trying to sell a glyphed buckler and it had trouble

I went into the monastary last night, with only my lvl 42 hunter friend... just us two... we did the cemetary and I got 2 green drops. I will keep at it for the other instances...

The AH get's crowded with SM stuff... it's annoying too, because the demand for lvl 30-33 stuff is pretty low on my server. Most everyone has moved beyond that point and with no new people b/c of the freeze in selling the game - oh no! Just gotta keep at it I guess. Any other areas people can suggest?

do quests. find quests that you can accomplish in alll the diff zones. sell off the rewards. ESPECIALLY if a reward is a weapon. sell it. sell whatever will net the most money. keep questing. keep grinding those quest mobs

keep running instances. sell you green on AH (if theyre good and you think theyll sell) or sell them to a vendor. rinse and repeat baby. if you are level 40 and have master of deception/increased stealth

get into cathedral. go down the main hall and to the right wing. in the back right alcove is a secret door with a necromancer dude. he loooks dead on the ground but when you attack he gets up and fights. guaranteed min 2 green drop from him.

The bow of searing arrows is one of the most common epic drops. You got lucky getting 85g (someone going "OMG PURPLE!" no doubt). I bought one for 4g. :lol: I actually paid only 35g for the bow I'm using now, which is much better than searing arrows. It's green though, so people don't see it as better. Funny how that works.

As for where to farm, I did the troll camps in Hinterlands. They drop a shitload of mageweave and cash. You might not be able to solo them until 40 though, I can't remember. But don't feel like you're obligated to have a mount exactly at 40. I think I was 42 before I had enough cash.

If your server is spider silk dependent, that's always a good seller.. I harvested some crap in deepwallow marsh for a bit.. also, badlands rock elementals are pretty good for selling heavy rock (can get almost a gold on my server horde side for a stack of 20 amazingly enough).. I also do mining, so mithril bars got me up pretty quick as well (again, just running around badlands)..

In the badlands right outside of Kargath theres leser and greater elementals. They drop Stones/Salt/and Jagged stones that when you fill up 2 or 3 12 slot bags net you about 4-6 gold an hour. I farmed the last 29 gold I needed there, AND they sometimes on a good hour will drop 2 or 3 greens you can sell at the AH.

And they net 110-150 exp for a 40-41 player in purple.

is that a horde infested area? ;-)

By 'horde infested' you mean they actually have as many as the alliance in the zone?

If your alliance,it may not be a too safe. Being right outside of a Horde town and all.. ;P

Well, I farmed for gold in STV (geomancers) and on SM runs, but since they destroyed the prices on those, I would say Badlands is your best bet. There's a couple decent money quests if you can find them and you can always work on getting your nifty stopwatch at the sametime. But the big money is in the rock elementals. I got lucky and on my first trip into the Badlands I got a blue polearm at level 36 that I sold for 10g. That started me off pretty well. SM got me from the end of 38 through level 40. Then I quested the end of level 40. And I was farming gold in STV for most of 41. It wasn't too bad. Got my mount about 3/4 to 42.

They're probably farming elixir of the mongoose recipes in azshara. They sell for 5g each because people are too stupid to realize that there are 40 on the AH.

Ogres in Feralas (Feral Scar Vale if you're a skinner). Lower levels hit up the small Gordunni camp on the 1k needles side of Camp Mojache. Mid to upper 40s hit the camps between woodpaws and feral scar vale.

Ogres in Tanaris once you get your mount and need easy cash after 45. Ogres don't fear/stun/etc and they don't run when nearly dead so they're easy as shit to solo for hours at a time.

SM for vendor loot. Look at buffs to decide if it'll sell at AH, I make 5-10g a run by going solo through the cemetary a couple times a day (have done so since I was level 42-43). I just solo through all mobs except the 4 humanoids around the chest before the graveyard. If the chest isn't locked though, I hit that as well. There's a rare spawn on the right side of the graveyard that has given me 2 blue axes and another blue item, each netted me well over 5g apiece. Too bad the boss drops shitty loot though since I don't get any XP for killing him. The orb sells for only about 83s, and the mantle I don't think even sells for 70s to vendor.

I second Smaq's ogre comments. If you need to farm, any humanoids are your best bet if you can find a solid-spawning camp. An ogre camp is even nicer because, as he said, they are just incredibly easy to solo. Stash potions / cloth, as they sell well to the AH. Treat it like an exp grind session - kill as fast as you can for as long as you can. You'll walk with good chunks of change after all the vendoring.

If you're a skinner, try the basilisks just north of the Arena in StV. The junk loot they drop sells "moderately" well. Same with the gorillas right outside BB.

In any case, find any camp to hammer and just grind hard. Questing is not the way to go about it, as the payoff for an hours-worth of running around is rarely over a gold. Even instances, to an extent, probably won't pay off as well - simply because you're dueling with 4 other people over items that vendor for 50s. Kill fast and kill often and maximize loot tables.

I found some 42 shaman on my server campin the harpy cave in Thousand Needles. He said he made 28 gold there in about 12 hours. There are 3 chests in the cave that sometimes give blue items, frequent green, and sometimes nada. The harpies drop some feather that sells for 80s for a stack of 10. He was not getting any exp.. just farming for money. This may suck.. but thought I would pass it on as it was something I noticed someone doing to farm for thier mount.

Wow, that makes me realize how great those electro-lanterns were... I was making anywhere from 4-5g per hour just off of the junk drops. This doesn't include selling fused wires, greens, and turning the silk into black shirts to sell on the AH (60-90s a piece).

Oh ya, there's another good deal, for some reason (maybe just my server) but black swashbuckler shirts sold for upwards of 90s. Even at that price they sold in 4 hours or less.
