Alarik 01-30-2005, 11:41 AM Along with my new laptop, i will play the shit out of this game.
Any suggestions on race/classes? (im thinking i want to be a rogue for sure, but has anyone played alliance/horde and likes one over the other?)
Anguish 01-30-2005, 12:04 PM Being a rogue is kind of stale.
A server consesus showed me that 19% of my server was a rogue while only 6% were warlock, and 8% druid....
Helado 01-30-2005, 12:31 PM On alliance on our server 60% of the population is rogue, paladin, or hunter. Warlock, Druid, and Priest numbers are well below 8%.
Alarik 01-30-2005, 12:50 PM hrmm, i think a priest looks badass, or warlock, (or hunter/rogue, but everyone is that so i am tempted to be a healer)
Die Hard!!{SDB} 01-30-2005, 01:48 PM priest is the most needed class in game.
Osurak 01-30-2005, 01:52 PM if you don't want to be a wussy healer, then spec shadow as a priest and magically transform into one of the best PvP classes in the game
you'll still heal just fine but you get the asskicking power of a mage as well
Honestly, I know this is going to sound selfish- but if you want to have fun, DON'T play a priest. They get nerfed all the time, up untill 40 they're healing bots, and after that they're still healing bots if you want to go on instances =\

You heal in instances, but you also kick the shit out of people in PVP.

hrmm... we will see, ill prolly have to mess with the system a bit to find out what i want.
paramount 01-30-2005, 05:26 PM My main character is a priest and while I love shadow spec and healing, he really isn't as fun as other classes are to solo. We do fine soloing once you get some good spells and learn how to conserve mana, but for me it isn't as enjoyable as my alternate characters. As far as the conception of us being pure healbots, yes, in instances that is our duty, to keep the group alive. However, the people who have told me I'm simply a healbot later asked me what the lightning coming out of my hand was (mind flay). If you've played any other MMORPG just view it as being the regular healer but you can beat the shit out of people every once in awhile.

if you play rogue, just be aware that you'll get no invites to random groups but on the other hand if you play priest, you will always get invites
cheezit 01-30-2005, 06:35 PM i play a mage on horde. i like it. nukes, free water/food(i always have people asking me for water). plus i get teleport and portal spells(makes travel much quicker pre-40). i'm always welcome in groups because mages have polymorph. i can solo perfectly fine specced cold(might respec later for pvp).
nobody ever suggests mage. i havent played anything else past 10 but i love my mage.(lvl 39)

yea im aware of this, thankfully i have a TON of friends who play here at my school (on daggerspine). So it isnt like i wont know anyone.
as was pointed out, Mage was not mentioned, it looks like a fun class as well, i automatically disregard it purely on its term, a warlock / priest are mages, just specified on one area, and im like mage, wait its generic. I had forgotten about it, but that looks like alot of fun as well..
Im also inclined to check out hunters, because the pet system looks like a lot of fun
edit: its going to look beautiful on this \/

Slobax 01-30-2005, 07:19 PM My two favorite classes are Mages and Paladins. I have a lvl 37 Pally, but lately i've been switchin to my lvl 8 mage and playing him alittle before i go to sleep.
Mages are cool if you can deal with drinking and eating alot. And gnome mages just look bad ass
Anguish 01-30-2005, 09:56 PM I did a census on my server ...
6% of people were priests.. 8% were warlocks .. 10% were druids ... :x
Classes like rogue had as high as 20% .. lol
Slobax 01-30-2005, 11:57 PM just dinged 10 on my gnome mage
i'm liking mage so far, the mana drain can be alittle annoying at first, but you can conjure drinks and food all you want, so it is definatly worth it. Grouped with a paladin you are unstoppable lol.

I just did a princess run with 3 rogues and a hunter. It made me sad like panda. Didn't help that one of the rogues was a dick. The hunter and the other two were cool though.
Gwaihir 01-31-2005, 08:08 AM Hunters are a fun class and the kings of solo questing. For awhile we weren't invited to high level groups, but the tides are beginning to change as people realize that we have a lot to offer in the end game areas.
Best idea if you are going to solo a lot is to spec Beast Mastery until you reach 60 then respec to ranges/survival since pets are useless once the high end AE spells from the level 60 bosses go off.
Pets also rock at Mass PVP. In the confusion of battle you set your pet to aggressive and let him loose into the enemy ranks while you open up with ranged attack. A level 60 pet....especially a cat or bear, will tear through the enemy castersso fast they wont be able to get any spells off .
TonyElTigre 01-31-2005, 10:56 AM from playing every class up to around 20 i gotta say warlock is ithe most fun, hes the only class i could find in pve that could competently handle a few even leveld mobs. Just agony, corruption, immolate, fear and repeat, you can juggle mass mobs with it.
Slobax 01-31-2005, 11:28 AM warlock is one of the classes i honestly don't like
i don't like the idea of using the same pet(minion) throughout all my levels. And maybe it's why i also don't like hunter, i don't like the idea of getting skills for a minion, and getting skills for yourself. Idk, hunter and warlocks have too much shit to deal with, for my type of playstyle.
I really like my paladin, and i'm liking my gnome mage so far. I can tell my Alch/Herb combo with my mage is going to kick ass.
