Here is a step by step guide on how to get yourself a key for Onyxia.

Onyxia Key Quest

1. Talk to Helendis Riverhorn in Burning Steppes to being Dragonkin Menace quest. (Level 48 minimum)
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1237

2. The True Masters quest then sends you to talk to Magister Solomon in Lakeshire (Town Hall)
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1232

3. The True Masters quest then sends you to talk to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon in Stormwind Keep.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1227

4. You then have to speak to Lady Prestor (on the other side of the king from Bolvar), have her insult you, then talk to Bolvar again.

5. The True Masters quest then sends you back to Magistrate Solomon in Lakeshire.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1229

6. Who sends you down to talk to Marshal Maxwell in Burning Steppes.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1228

7. Maxwell sends you to talk to Ragged John (located in a cave in the northern side of BS).
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?m=6506

8. Then you go back to Maxwell, who sends you to find Marshal Windsor in Burning Rock Depths.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1209

9. Windsor is located in the Jail area of BRD in a locked cell (Need a key from one of the bosses or picklock to open).
(Detailed instructions on how to find Windsor should be inserted here)

10. Windsor sends you back to Maxwell.

11. Now you need to find "A Crumpled Up Note" which is a random, common loot off the dwarves in BRD. You take the note to Windsor. (Level 53 miniun)
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=2208

12. Windsor then wants you to collect his lost information off from two of the bosses inside BRD: General Angerforge and the golem lord, Argelmach.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1909

13. After you collect the lost information you escort Windsor to the entrance of BRD.

14. Windsor then sends you to talk to Maxwell again. (Level 58 minimum)

15. Maxwell then sends you to meet Windsor at the entrance of Stormwind.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=3835

16. This part is labelled a raid quest, but you do not have to do any fight in you are careful. After talking to Windsor at the entrance you just follow him around as he walks through SW and talks to a couple NPCes.

17. Once you reach SW Keep, move to a side room when Windsor confronts Lady Prestor. She will run away but 10 Level 60 elite dragonkin will spawn. Stay out of the way and Windsor and the gaurds will take them out.

18. Talk to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, who sends you to find Haleh in Winterspring.
http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=3780

19. Heleh then has you kill General Drakkisath in upper Burning Rock Spire. (Upper BRS requires a key to enter, one per group/raid. The blood drops 1 per kill, even within a raid.)

I think you can finish the quest at lvl 58. But there is real no point in going into onyxia until you are 60.

For horde:

2x as hard because Blizzard hates us.

omg, he's right, Horde has an unbeleivablyt hard time getting that key. We have to do BRD/LBRS over and over killing different bosses in a long long chain of quests requiring us to kill certain bosses. Not all at once, which is why a group has to do these instances over and over several times.

oh that is gay, that quest is half soloable...
What a fucking joke.

Here is horde ox keyquest

5man lower spire. EVERY real boss.
kill rend in upper spire
kill all the raid dragons that are out in the world (not in instances) This takes 15 people about 4 hours.
then go back to spire for your last part. 1 drop per run.

I have done 5 man lower spire groups 4 times this last week, holy shit how boring. And there is no guarantee that you can complete the quest in one pass since you also need a random pickup loot respawns randomly after first pickup.

I can not fucking believe they replaced some pathetic fedex chat quests and trash in BRD with 5 manning lower spire and killing outdoor dragons in 4 different zones...

hah yeah, the alliance keyquest is cake

it takes 1 5man group about 2 hours in BRD (going back and forth) and everything else is soloable. (besides drak of course)

I recommend all Alliance get their key asap before they nerf the ability to solo the dragons in SW

Er, you don't need to 5-man LBRS. You need kill credit, right, and that's it? It does sound a lot harder though. That kind of sucks for Horde.

I got kill credit for killing the Baron in Strath.. and I sure the hell didn't do it 5-man. :) You need to know how to do it, that's all.

Leaving the raid to whack the guy and reinviting is even worse. Then you are wasting even more peoples time in a trash instance to do 1 person at a time instead of in theory 5.

And whats gonna happen when blizzard finds a way to fix that? Alliance side will be an even bigger joke compared to the horde side quest.

How do you figure? According to players who do play Horde, they simply 5-man it.. and LBRS is not that hard a 5-man anyway.

I'm pretty sure anyone who leaves just before his death would get credit.

I'm not saying it's a good strategy, but it is an alternative to 5-manning it. Even so, LBRS is not all that difficult to 5-man.

I'll admit you guys get the shaft though, and I'm not trying to make it sound easier.. just that LBRS isn't -that- bad an instance.

It's not that hard to 5 man, right, BUT it sucks having to do the instance multiple times.

Believe me, I feel your pain. I'm so incredibly sick of UBRS right now. :( Blood runs are bleh

Leaving the raid group right before a nameds death will give you credit.

You can also do this for quest items, like the Baron's head, Ras' head, etc.
