A glaring problem with the Questing System...

Everyone is off and soloing VIA quests. This doesn't allow for self improvement like all other mmorpgs have.

In other MMORPGS you're grinding. Thats it. Thats all. You're trying to kill everything ever as fast as possible. Because of that, you slowly figure out what works best when and how.

Thus, as you level, you know your character better and better.

There is a lot of clueless people in WoW ... I think we can all agree. I think the questing system ahs something to do with it.

It's funny that WoW is the highest populated MMORPG ...ever... and yet it's impossible to find a group, sometimes. Because people don't group, they also don't get to see how someone else plays their class.

When you get to higher levels, grouping is a necessity. I have a bunch of quests in my log for BRD that I won't be able to do without a group.

I just started like 12 hours ago after only playing briefly in beta and I have been solo/questing basically clueless as an undead rogue.

I'm level 13 now with great gear for my level and lots of silver. I can play my class well for it's level but that really makes no difference now because of the content I fight. Grouping is a waste of time since I can earn twice the exp by myself with no downtime. (tnx first aid, cannabilism, alchemy/herbalism). This is all easy for me since I've played MMO's forever though and rogues were my all time favorite class so it's pretty second nature.

In summation,

I will be able to group flawlessly when the time comes =p

I can pull, split, mez (go go sap/gouge!) etc pulling multiples of equal or higher level with no problem so I doubt it will be much different grouped.

The main reason people can't play their class is because they suck at it and they don't try risky ventures to see their full potential =]

eh, i think the mindless factor has more to do with this probably being a lot of people's first mmorpg. the quest system is basically grinding with bonus xp(especially on kill/collection quests).

I <3 my guild. We don't have to worry about pickups and we're all on vent so everything is always lots of fun.

Actually yesterday I started a pickup and it ended up being mostly QP's (guild) towards the end. This was after the Plate rolling 47 warlock left.

So to answer your question, most pickup groups suck.

unless i misunderstand your post, you are completely wrong. Quests are the main source of XP, there are few quests that you will get more xp for grinding. Quests are not in any way just bonus xp for grinding.

don't get me wrong, quests are necessity for leveling fast. but i've noticed more and more lately(im lvl 36 right now) that i get more xp out of actually doing the quests than i do as a reward for the quest. i know you can't get as much xp grinding as you can questing, but when you are questing you are essentially grinding, but every once in a while you have to go back to town to turn in something and you get "bonus xp". maybe its just me but after i spend time on a quest and watch my xp bar go up im usually underwhelmed by the 2k xp that i get when i get back to town. its not THAT much. in some areas i could kill 2k worth of xp in the time it would take me to turn in my quest and come back, im just not getting the same kind of rewards that i would(equipment, money) if i just turn in the quest.

That's why you group and do a shitload of quests. Today, I grouped with a guildie of mine and knocked out about 10 quests in Un'Goro Crater and gained almost an entire level. If you do things quickly and use groups to your advantage, then levelling is easy.

For instance, know where you're going so you can knock quests out at the same time. Secondly, use groups of 2-3 people. I find that a group of 2 is the best because you're usually high enough to kill the enemies fast, but if it is a looting quest then there isn't much downtime for the loot to drop.

Also, if a quests turns out to suck, don't do it. I skipped a quest in Arathi Highlands because it wanted me to get some shit off of Raptors and it was a rare drop, and I didn't feel like spending two hours grinding raptors.

Levelling (especially at higher levels) is all about utilizing your group and knowing where things are.

Having a level 60 I can honestly tell you that you'll run out of quests fast. The last two levels were practically all grind (about 17 hours worth as a hunter, which is the fastest soloer if you ask me). However earlier on there are a lot of level redundant zones. For the alliance, Redridge, Ashenvale, Duskwood and Menethil are all approximately the same level zones. Nothing keeps you from getting quests in all of them. Levelling my second toon right now, I have a full quest log at level 24. I solo all the yellows, then grind out the rest of the level or group up to do harder ones. It's a system that works very well at lower levels to fly through them.

Later on your zone options narrow, and there are not as many quests. Personally I love kill task quests even if it's a rare drop because you're getting XP as you do it. Sure it may seem frustrating, but running is not gaining you any XP. I tend to save delivery quests till when I'm transferring zones anyway for other kill quests, or just to sell loot.

Oh and one more thing I'll add. You still learn how to play your class by soloing, you just don't learn what works best as a group. I know every facet about levelling as a hunter, but when it comes to instance groups I won't know what they expect from me.

The Pandas have been the most fun I have had outisde of NOVA as far as team gaming goes. I do pu groups from time and I get constant invites since I am a mid level priest but I do not enjoy it nearly as much since most players do not think before they react.

I listen to instructions when I group with my guild and try to help and not hinder the party or raid group. It becomes obvious very quickly what you should and should not do when playing a certain class when dealing with pu groups.

I am still green when it comes to this type of game but I am getting better each day.

On single or double pulls, just dps and splitting aggro off of main tank with pet. On big group pulls, I expect a frost trap right in front of the group, and you single targetting caster types with your highest dps while splitting aggro with the pet.

If Server transfers work from any server I'll probably transfer over. I'd hate to have characters on different servers.
