PxR|GrimJack 01-18-2005, 09:51 PM banning someone by nick is of course ineffective....if you are looking to stop that PERSON from coming in
I want to block "Newblood" (and its various spinoffs Newblood1 etc)
since I basically know jack shazbot about running the server...I'm asking here :)
PxR|GrimJack 01-18-2005, 11:18 PM just curious...has anyone told you to FO lately?
no?
then allow me......
Geiss 01-19-2005, 01:55 AM i dont know how to ban by names :(
did you ask scratch monkey or wolverine? they seem to be the keys to server running these days, maybe your answer lies there. GL
BitRaiser 01-19-2005, 02:20 AM Well, atleast the number of "NewBloods" points towards more nubs actually taking interest in the game.
Idle in #tribes some time. There's lots of 'em showing up and asking really painful nub questions.
"How do I join a game"
"Click the join tab"
"Ok, thanks! Bye!"
"Groan"
Geiss 01-19-2005, 02:39 AM the above statement taken from bitraisers' first time playing T:V...
aCynicalPie 01-19-2005, 09:56 AM ...Actually you wouldn't believe some of the stupid stuff people have asked.
-Wolverine 01-19-2005, 10:00 AM hmmm, I don't think that is possible currently. But it doesn't seem like it would be hard to implement. I know Byte has a new version of ByteWeb in the works, I will send him an email to request this feature be added.
PxR|GrimJack 01-19-2005, 10:37 AM thx guys...when/if PB is implimented I know I can thru it
...Actually you wouldn't believe some of the stupid stuff people have asked.
sure I would...I admin RvS for the TWL......
JackLuminous 01-19-2005, 10:49 AM Is this something that can be done in a mutator? Can a player be kicked via mutator ?

An anti-TK mutator already exists which automatically displays a warning message and then kicks you if your score drops too low. The same could probably be done based on player name.
Ashley 01-19-2005, 03:13 PM WARNING --- If you block the name "NEWBLOOD" that will REALLY eff up any chance of getting NEW players in TV. DONT do it.
There is NOTHING wrong with it having that name.

I cannot believe it took this long for someone halfway smart to come along! Yes, ban new players who are trying to learn the game. VGCN.
Some of you are impossibly dumb. No offense.
PeaceKeeper 01-19-2005, 04:30 PM you are a bad person. leave the newbs alone
PxR|GrimJack 01-19-2005, 04:44 PM I dont have issues with new players...I have issues with old players smurfing under the nick "Newblood"
you dont agree? then dont do it on your servers

Old players can smurf with any nick they want, and so they'll get on your server anyway.
New players that know how to change their names will also get on your server.
By banning the "NewBlood" nick, you only punish those who can't change their names (ie harmless newbs).
Also, it's not that hard to spot a veteran smurfing as NewBlood and boot them the old fashioned way.
Geiss 01-20-2005, 09:30 AM just lock the server and post the PW in here like 5150 and KY used to do for T2. might be easier if you're tryin to keep out newbs.
PxR|GrimJack 01-20-2005, 11:12 AM Geiss, I'm not trying to keep the new players out...not at all
I'm tired of smackhead vets running around acting like they just bought the game under "Newblood" and running over the REAL new players
