Did VUG force IGA to release it too early or did IGA miss a deadline badly?
Who's the culprit? Why do we have an unfinished game?

Who's fault...IGA or VUGFalhawk 01-04-2005, 04:28 PM Did VUG force IGA to release it too early or did IGA miss a deadline badly? Who's the culprit? Why do we have an unfinished game? JaPaNDa 01-04-2005, 04:31 PM i think its the government's fault, for they are the real culprits. Rooster128 01-04-2005, 04:31 PM Well, we CAN make up for it. Don't you worry. And sometimes game developers have to experiment. Look at Blizzard, WoW is their first MMO. They are def. pulling some strings here and there, but in no time all shall be good. Just wait until an expansion or a new tribes game. Every title a company makes, they learn something new. It's the science of game making. Personally, I didn't think T:V was a failure at all. I still play SP, it never gets old for me, and the MP I could play for hours on end (unless I see Dispatch or Annoyance on the other team, that is. ;)) Arclight 01-04-2005, 04:38 PM I'd like to know what happened as well. I remember reading several posts by the dev team saying they were either on schedule or ahead of schedule. Yet there's quite a few things that either aren't implemented fully or simply don't work (just skim through the scripts, there's several comments like 'not implemented', 'non-functional', 'to be done', etc.). Amadeus 01-04-2005, 04:49 PM Ant said the game was "done" when it was released. The publisher tells the developer what they want to be in the game come gold, and if the devs put all that stuff in then the game is considered finished. If it lacks features/polish, it's only because the publisher's idea of "done" is different from the gamer's. KnightMare 01-04-2005, 04:58 PM both. VirDT 01-04-2005, 05:05 PM More time could of made a difference only if they actually listened to us. However they were way too set in their ways. "Vision"(tm) strikes again. All the current gameplay issues I see people complain about could of been worked out in a month if we were able to test all the maps and get something done the about our feedback. These issues were so easy to discover once decent people started playing all the maps. Rooster128 01-04-2005, 05:05 PM And I'm sure you know all about this subject matter, eh? JohnMcClane 01-04-2005, 05:08 PM I dunno why it's unfinished but I could tell it was unfinished when I saw the pitiful excuse for a repair beam maybe that looks better now, though, I haven't loaded up T:V in a good while Sambuca 01-04-2005, 05:08 PM I blame Single Player. I bet it was done early, so they made the decision to release early. Zee2k 01-04-2005, 05:12 PM The Government clearly spent too much money on Tsunami AID than gaming development. DonkeyofDoom 01-04-2005, 05:16 PM I dunno why it's unfinished but I could tell it was unfinished when I saw the pitiful excuse for a repair beam maybe that looks better now, though, I haven't loaded up T:V in a good while Is it unfinished.. or do the just not care, its a repair beam the only other thing that might look right was tendrils and that would just clutter the screen more, if you cant provide an alternative, dont talk. Rooster128 01-04-2005, 05:17 PM I'm trying to provoke my class candidates to start a fundraiser for that horrible incident. Can't stand seeing people suffer like that, and I'm glad for once that support is being offered on a grand scale. Indonesia is a very tolerant and friendly place. I groan to see its people hurt. mc-fine 01-04-2005, 05:21 PM i think its the government's fault, for they are the real culprits. Its those damn republicans again... PxR|GrimJack 01-04-2005, 05:22 PM I'm trying to provoke my class candidates to start a fundraiser for that horrible incident. interesting choice of words....if they dont want to why make them? I blame Single Player. I bet it was done early, so they made the decision to release early. that maybe the closest we'll get to a real answer :( Rooster128 01-04-2005, 05:25 PM Well, I'm not an authority figure at all in terms of our school. I can't "make" anyone do anything. But the suggestion is worth the mentioning. SmOkkin' Joe 01-04-2005, 06:09 PM I blame all of the above on Rooster128 Halfscan 01-04-2005, 06:11 PM TW... or rather whomever at VUG that made the call to put so much stock in what TW supposedly wanted. I remember reading the updates from the Tribal Council (whatever the Hell they were called) and seeing repeatedly that they were suggesting that T3 strip all the additions that were made to T2, speed it up, use smaller maps, etc... Combine those suggestions with VUGs other goal of simplifying things even more to introduce new players and that is what you get... Tribes + emphasis on speed + small maps - "extras" = T:V. -Half [AKA]PanamaJack 01-04-2005, 06:13 PM Did VUG force IGA to release it too early or did IGA miss a deadline badly? Who's the culprit? Why do we have an unfinished game? You can't really blame IGA too much for how T:V turned out. You will find that most of the decisions as to what the game will be like and have included in it came from VUG's Dumb and Dumber Tag team of Marweas and Thrax Panda. T:V is their vision of what Tribes should be. All IGA did was impliment their vision for them. shieldpackman 01-04-2005, 06:13 PM They started with the Unreal Engine in excess of 2 years ago. Within a years time, for a Tribes game, you'd think there would be drastic changes. Within two years time, for a Tribes game, it should be unrecognizable. After more than 2 years of working with the Unreal Engine, IGA has made a bold statment by altering nothing more than the scripts! Yes, it's definately IGA's fault. | ||
