FishStix 01-03-2005, 11:24 PM Alright, well I'm going to pose a question to all the "haters" out there that I don't actually think has been posted before: If you hate T:V so much, what else are you going to play?
I am certain that, FOR ME, T:V is the best fps since T1. I know that at very least I like it way more than HL2, Halo2, and Doom 3. So if you don't want to pay $15 a month, what are the other alternitaves? I hope UT2k4 isn't the answer...
The truth is that T:V has great graphics, great sound, a good single player, and an MP that certainly beats out counterstrike. Not to mention it is the franchise that has kept us going for years and the least we could do is support it, right? I see tuns of potential, now that T:V is $20 and maps are coming out on a sub weekly basis. Some mods are looking amazing as well.
So ima stop jibba jabbarin' now. What is the answer? If not T:V, what?

Its An EA game All EA Sequels suck. Look at MOHPA. On a good night MOHPA has less players than TV. And mohaa averages 20000 players at any given time. Prime time it has close to 5000.
KillerONE 01-03-2005, 11:52 PM All blanket statments are false. (irony, I know)
Hurricane Harold 01-03-2005, 11:54 PM Not Battlefield 2, or not only. It will be another vehicle laden multiplayer game. Might be fun, but it is no substitute for Tribes. I agree about the other recent FPS games, none of them touch T:V gameplay wise. I am waiting on the HL2 mods, but I don't know.
Shifting over to other genres seems to be my best bet, a few rts and tbs (turn based) games are entertaining me a lot in addition to Tribes: V, and IL2 Sturmovik is fun.
At0m|c 01-03-2005, 11:54 PM No games have the complexity or speed that the Tribes series of games have. :( I started playing CS:S just to see what all the hype was about and it seems like the main 'skill' is just to shoot the other guy in the head faster than he can get you. Not much depth to that.
Have faith in the T:V CompMod. :)

I don't hate t:v; I just can't stand reformat/reinstall/reformat/reinstall.
btw... I tried the windows version of t2 again & I can see why everyone complains about UE's, never had that problem in *nix.
blissful 01-04-2005, 12:06 AM you could always try this www.virtualbattlespace.co m (http://www.virtualbattlespace.co m/)
Hellsfury 01-04-2005, 12:14 AM ATM, I play Call of Duty. Search and Destroy (no respawns) on [ADP] server. I just bought the United Offense expansion pack, so I'll be manning my FG34 or trundling along in my Sherman soon enough.
I like T:V, I'm just currently waiting for the patch, which I hope deals with the Grappler and Pod Whoring.
FishStix 01-04-2005, 12:21 AM bah.
I just cant find any complexity or depth in any other games. Even the dumbed down T:V is more team based and 3d then other fps's.

Perhaps you missed the 1,001 posts about how the patch would NOT alter gameplay. Compmod is where it's at.

FishStix 01-04-2005, 12:24 AM I have CoD, it is fun, but can't hold me for more than a map or two. A month later I lost interest completely. The mods and maps will save T:V.
T:V is where it's at. Just face it.

|CO|Kapeket!! 01-04-2005, 12:43 AM Fishstix, you have hit it on the head.
I left T1 for AAO. AAO is insanely good. It really sets the standard for reality FPS war shooters.
But once I got the beta at TribalWar West, I knew I had found Tribes again.
Nothing will ever be the same but what stays the same? Nothing. No one.
This is a great game, I loved the play in 5150 last night, and everyday, I meet new players who have rediscovered the same love we all have for this great series.
Ggs.

I had two copies of Loki's effort for T2.
From what I hear, the latest updates are not meshing well with it.
Bummer.
We at least need a Linux server for this release though.. MA is carrying the mantle and props to them for being brave enough to do so.
I hope we can have or cake and eat it too regarding Linux. :D
Aesop-The evil one 01-04-2005, 12:56 AM Man, that is some cool 3d graphic windows on your site........ I mean it, it looks 3d on my comp. I wanted to move my head to look around.

They are doing this just to get our hopes down. In 1-3 weeks when it comes out it will transform TV into T(Insert 1/2 here) on the unreal engine. There will be plenty of gameplay changes. The fps will be 10x better. And the player count will be 5x larger. :roller:
