I thought some of you might find this an interesting read..

http://www.livejournal.com/users/ea_spouse/

this is only one account from the spouse of a developer, though it would seem all modern developers are pushed beyond their limit to create what is ultimately, watered down products.. no thanks to multi-billion dollar corporations

it just makes me appreciate what people go through to 'pump' out titles for the larger corporate body, even if they do seem to show a lack of innovation.. but it's no wonder

I read that before. It's a damn shame what they do, but they learned it from Japanese gaming companies. Japan has a LOT of that sort of business, and no one complains.

It's disgusting, and ultimately counterproductive as they churn out more crap.

I think in japan, everyone sleeps under their desks, if not then in a bookcase or set of drawers or something

The Japanese corporation has a penchant for overworking their people for little or no overtime compensation. People have actually died from overwork.

By the end of it, you won't. Trajan of SS2845 fame related a story where one of our modelers was picked up by a gaming company. He spent six months there and had to leave due to the stress and work environment. Everyone was a nervous wreck, not saying or doing anything for fear of getting fired.

whats truly amazing is that if you know the history of the ea and other early game development houses, you see immense irony in what they are now...
