Cheesesteak 12-06-2004, 10:59 PM Ok so after watching the legacy video i felt I would reinstall Tribes but I ran into weird problems.
When I set the video to open GL mode everything get really slow, like 10 fps or less. I know my rig can handle it. Im running win xp w/ sp2, nvidia 5700fx, 512 mb ram, amd 3200 proc, nforce 2 mobo, yadda yadda.
T1 ran fine on my old pIII 550 mhz gateway pc with a tnt2 card. I have no idea what the problem is. I reformatted my pc not too long ago,maybe 2 weeks. I also did a clean install of tribes I have no clue what the problem could be. I shouldnt have any problems, anyone know what the problem might be?
FishStix 12-06-2004, 11:05 PM your proc sucks. come on thats pathetic
Cheesesteak 12-06-2004, 11:09 PM yeah its soo much worse than a pentium 3 .... seriously wtf is the problem?
CandyMan 12-07-2004, 12:19 AM make sure you have the right drivers installed for the video card
That's a typical problem when the default drivers are installed.
I recently played T1 again and it runs kinda choppy also, when it used to run very smooth on my old comp.

ati radeon x300
Also, can someone tell me how to fix the refresh rate from going to 60mhz when Tribes starts? It's giving me a headache playing like that.
Cheesesteak 12-07-2004, 01:59 PM yeah it was my drivers, installed the latest nvidia drivers and it runs fine... im just suprised that the default drivers ran into a problem with a 6 year old game
CandyMan 12-07-2004, 03:46 PM it's the opengl port that MS uses by default, it doesnt support half the shit it should.
Joop, get a program called REFORCE, it'll fix that for you.
confidential 12-07-2004, 09:55 PM anyone have problems with an ati radeon 9800 pro? ran really choppy for me when i turned on opengl then it crashed to desktop. ran fine with my geforce 4 about a month ago, only thing i've changed since then is the video card. got the 4.11 catalyst drivers from ati.com.

Arsic 12-21-2004, 08:35 PM I'm having the same problems now on this computer too. I've reformatted and done a clean install and it still hasn't worked. I have
Intel Celeron CPU
384 MB of RAM
1.20 GHz
1200 MHz
XP SP1
Vid Card: ATI RADEON 7500 Series (with drivers updated)
Using DirectX* 9.0
I'm getting 160-170 Framerate and around 100 ping during play (used that Reforce program suggested here too).
I don't think the problem is any of the hardware because it plays T:V but not T1... any help would be appreciated.
<AuDiGy> 12-21-2004, 11:04 PM that jus happens with some kick ass comps, they hate 3-6 year old games
Arsic 12-22-2004, 12:32 AM it might be a driver prob though. which drivers should I be installing for this kind of vid card?
Arsic 01-03-2005, 03:49 PM anyone?

What exactly is your problem? 160-170 FPS is an overkill framerate as it is.
Arsic 01-04-2005, 02:57 PM The problem is, when I'm online and I'm trying to move/shoot it gets choppy and slowed down. If I try walking I move but I move very slowly and is very jittery. There's a large shot delay and when I try jet packing I can't go anywhere.
The FPS HUD says I'm getting 160-170 and my ping is fine. While I still have those as moderate as they are, the game is still slow. Now, how do I fix that?
I'm running it through a cable broadband router connected to 2 other computers. It runs fine on the other computers on the same connection, good ping, good FPS, but it doesn't on this computer.
JaPaNDa 01-04-2005, 03:54 PM are you sure that's your fps? try using showfps();
Arsic 01-05-2005, 03:53 PM I'm sure it's not my fps because even in windowed it runs slow online.

$pref::waitForVSync = "False";
Terra 01-15-2005, 07:24 AM is it just t1 or a lot of the games?
if its a lot of the games, it's probably the power supply.
Minstrel 01-19-2005, 10:43 AM go to www.dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com) and run a test on your connection. Seer if you are experiencing packet loss.
Shinigami 01-19-2005, 05:06 PM if its a lot of the games, it's probably the power supply.
That's taking a shot in the dark.
