Just cause TCS is dying doesn't mean T:V is.

Incorrect. If they wanted to make a game that was great, they could have spent the money on it. Just like HL2 did. And WoW did. And they could have listened to the feedback that the "pros", or "higher level players" per say, gave them. But they didn't. They just hoped they could hop on the ut2k4 bandwagon (and no i'm not comparing T:V to ut2k4) and pull in a buncha newbies with the vehicles they offerend in T:V. I know damn well what they were thinking. They wont admit it, and neither will the fanboys. But anybody on the outside who played t1, and played the original UT, knows what i'm saying. The sequels required no skill. Period.

And anybody who wants to argue with me about the skill required in T:V wasn't standing next to me at TW:W while I talked to thrax about how effing easy it was after only playing it for 10 minutes against Marweas and a few others. Thrax sat there and told me to my face they wouldn't make a game that took skill because their target audience was "idiots" without using that word.

So essentially you're saying that releasing the game close to/at the same time as games with multi-million dollar budgets (and hype machines that rumbled along for years) did nothing to affect sales? Yeah, ok..

You can argue lack of depth all you want but for someone who's never played any Tribes game, they can't make that comparison because they have no past experience with the series. In short, that reasoning doesn't explain why new players aren't picking up the game.

As for this comment: 'If they wanted to make a game that was great, they could have spent the money on it.' That's never been feasible with any Tribes game. It's terrible business sense to give a game like Tribes, whose community is measured in the thousands, the kind of budget HL2 had, whose community is measured in the hundreds of thousands.

Anyway, like I said, none of this really matters to me. I'll play so long as there's someone to compete against.

^^I saw the server full last night with 20 long time players.

That same sentence could also work for T1 and T2, except there are more peeps playing either one of those games at any given moment than T:V.... ;(

I think LA just killed T:V by pointing that out.

All of those teams suck. They should have set a good example by sticking with this game with hopes that things will improve. These guys are no longer classified as Tribes fans in my mind.

GoD, =V= & TAU are the real Tribes killers.

Yeah, because a few teams dropping the ladder definitely killed tribes. That's like saying these threads have any effect on the life of the game. At the MOST threads on this board might stop what... 50 players MAX from playing the game? Tribes2 had 5000 players on 2am, when 50 players makes a difference, the game is dead already.

As for these teams sucking? No longer tribes fans? They've only been around and breathing tribes for nearly 6 years in some cases. Only to watch what they've been breathing suck the air right out of their lungs.

But, you started the thread saying that T:V killed Tribes because the likes of Vanguard and your squad were leaving.

See I HAVE had fun playing T:V... just not anywhere NEARLY as much as in previous versions.

The game has SOME redeeming value... It'll be more fun IF/WHEN they finish it :D

Lets start bottom up, these teams have been around and breathing Tribes for nearly 6 years. The game as I see it has minor problems, gameplay is not perfect but it's no reason to go off and ditch this game.

You're not being fans of this game if you downright decide not to support it. And hey, lets be honest. Did you really think you were helping the game by making these threads titled: "T:V the tribes killer".

Even if the game isn't perfect, you should at least stand behind it in some form or manner, even then keep your mouth shut about some of the things that don't go your way. However, you seem to feel the need to bring this to our attention that these "hardcore" teams abandon the game. All I can see is negative intention here.

As far as I'm concerned, these teams suck. Bad attitude and no ambition, they lack persistence to at least sit this game through a bit longer? This game isn't dead yet, and sure it's off to a slow start but it has alot of potential. If these teams were actually dedicated to Tribes, they would go down with the mothereffing ship.

I like Metallica. I like their albums pre-Black Album. I don't really care for their newer stuff. Does that mean that I'm not a fan? No. I just prefer to listen to their older stuff.

It's just like Tribes. I liked T1. I liked T2. I don't like T:V. I'd rather play T1 or T2. That doesn't mean I'm not a Tribes fan.

Anybody having flashbacks to when T2 came out?

"This killed Tribes!!!!!!!!"

Hey Irritant, do me a favor to shut everyone up. Take T1, update the graphics on it. That's all. Just make it prettier, release it and call it Tribes 4. It won'tsell for shazbot, but it will shut these guys up!

That would be called Tribes 3.

Actually though, if they just took it, updated the gfx, put in the T2 inv system, SL, and maybe a few other things that would have to be voted on, it would be a hit .. . .. within our community.

For it to be a commerical success it would have to be called Tribes: 3. This then would get people thinking that T:V is something diffrent, and that it doesn't represent T3. Next they would have to advertise as well as they did for T2.

Thats the road map to success. Why they didn't do that for T:V beats me. It would have been cheaper and would have sold like hot cakes.

T:V vs. Tribes 3 was such a conscious commercial decision, that I can only think someone somewhere has plans for a said 3rd.

Might not be a game we want, but I can't think of any other reason to NOT use the all important 3 in the game title..
