"few" being the keyword. If they would've just kept the series going then I'm willing to bet more than a "few" new players would be playing as well as the people that have been playing the series the last six years.

but a few nonetheless.

if it was a super knockout with the fanbase, it would be once again a 'clickish' game w/ no new resources.

T2 was a really shazbotty game and it is what killed tribes. Just because it had alot of active players doesn't mean it was a good game, especially compared to Tribes 1.

T2 had alot of players and was a shazbotty game.. T:V is a great game but doesn't have the players. I'm not gonna stop playing it.

WTF are you smoking.
# of players DOES determine wether or not its a good game.
YOUR personal prefrences matter not, but the mass publics does.
How can you not get that?

All of which don't have anything to do with how good the game is. Just look at Doom 3.

Most of the people that say T2 sucks never gave classic a chance.

Therefore, they don't know how effing awesome Tribes 2 really was.

This whole 'tw whingers are wrecking it' sentiment is completly ridiculous.

It's not that...

It is the fact the product manager and dev team read this board and designed a game around what the T2 haters whined about.

It's f'kin hilarious reading all these fanatics saying T:V is the best things to happen to Tribes...

Accept the fact T:V failed, not only in the eyes of the community (which is <1% of the potential players) but check the server stats it seems the non Triber doesn't find it too appealing either. I just hope it sold enough to warrant another attempt at the genre (any idea on numbers?)

I guess that would mean that Harry Potter is great literature and Bruce Almighty an exemplary movie.

Its the entertainment industry. All that matters is that it is successful in producing good entertainment. And the only measure of that is the number of people that watch/read/hear.

Who the eff cares about a movie or song that might be oscar or grammy worthy that only 500 people have seen or heard.

Here's a thought guys. If a game is the best game in the world but no one's playing it... is it still a game at all?

T:V is a great game. It is well made, looks gorgeous, and the gameply is fast and fun. However,VU just picked a bad time to release and also don't give a crap about it. This season, given the choice of only 2-3 games, most kids are gonna buy Halo2, or MGS3, or HL2, or WoW, or any of the other big-name franchise games released. T:V while being a great game fades into the background simply due to lack of recognition.

What T:V needs is an ad campaign, like those Prince of Persia Warrior Within ads you see on TV every 10 minutes or something. Just put together an ad, roll some demo action from a match on a map like Arid or Spiridian and the players will be pouring in. However, VUGames doesn't give 2 shazbots about tribes anymore and refuses to put any additional time/resource/money into the game.

Excuse me? Doom3 had (has) tiny numbers for MP, in which it IS a failure, and a horrid game, if i remember correctly the main release supported 4 players max?
SP on the other hand i dont know about, i havnt seen any sales numbers, but i bet it did quite well in initial sales at least.

They didn't meet expected numbers out of the gate due to piracy. So I've heard anyway.
