Timesplitters 2 is a great game. This is true. And possibly a better SP game. But in terms of MP - I have to say Halo 2 as well. Timesplitters is a little limited in that regard...
What makes Timesplitters 2 good, in my eyes, is that it knows what it is and does it well. Halo wants SO BADLY to be a PC FPS (mainly since that's what it was supposed to be), and I don't think it really pulls it off. TS2, on the other hand, knows it's a console FPS, and does the console FPS thing far better than anyone else. I play Halo MP a lot, just because... well, because I basically HAVE to. But I've had far more fun with TS2 multiplayer than I've ever had with Halo, and way more fun with T:V than I've ever had with TS2.

Well, PC games are the big leagues.

You can have better system components than a console, you can customize your system more easily than with a console, you can experiement with new technology easier than with a console, you are more free to make mistakes than with etc etc etc.

This is like trying to say "Look, my heavyweight contender can knockout that strawweight champion... he could knock him out!" but who cares? They are in different leagues and divisions.

I never typed "for a sixth grader" so in fairness you shouldn't quote it.

Halo will always be the most over hyped franchise ever. There were plenty of faults in the original most notably the recycling of levels. Enter facility and rather than see new areas you just backtrack and fight more of the same disney movie bad guys. Library was awful repetitive as well. On a whole the games single player was pretty decent.

Theres two reasons why Halo was huge. Launch title for Xbox and best console FPS up to that point. Second reason is it also had vehicles which at the time was fairly uncommon. Other than the original Tribes most FPS hadn't really used vehicles. Tribes 2 did it a lot more extensively before Halo came out and just about every FPS released now uses vehicles.

When the next best console game to compare a Halo to is Golden Eye its not hard to see why Halo is big in the console market. Its not horrible by any stretch of the imagination but its definately over hyped.

Yeah I played the MP last night before making my post. I also played the single player for over an hour. The MP wasn't laggy, but at the snail speeds you move at, I can't see there being any netcode issues.

The point of my post overall is that from all of the hype over this game, I was expecting to see something new. I was expecting to see amazing graphics that far surpassed the first game. I was expecting to see some aspect of the game being better than Tribes because Halo 2 has such a large fanbase, but what I got was none of the above.

Tribes players need to appreciate the game they have. It is light years ahead of its time.

Yeah you dont have to tell me that tribes is superior, especially in gameplay. I was just curious if the netcode sucked at all. MS isnt a dumb company, they love to copy good ideas, and it wouldnt suprise me that they would add familiar elements to future versions of Halo like jet packs etc.

We folks that have been playing MP games on our computers for years are a very small populace compared to the actual number of console players and newbies out in the market that have no idea about the intense world of online MP play in PC games. Its completely new to them and with the the console push to provide more MP type gaming, their numbers simply make games like HALO seem like the Holy Grail.

Many of the console games I've seen do have fabulous graphics, but I still prefer PC games because they tend to be far more sophisticated in their controls, gameplay and of course the online multiplay. Theres just a lot more control with a keyboard and mouse. Plus with PC games you have the capacity for MODS, add-ons etc. You buy a console game and that its. No MODS, no add-ons, no development in the community nothing.

Halo's net code was perty quick but even more loose. Even on servers with great ping, you would see some VERY strange behaviour constantly.

Wrong. You can have updates and mods and add-ons for lots of x-box games. Theres halo 1 nmp which is a community version of halo with lots of custom maps,. Also you can download addons such as new maps for cs, ravenshield, splinter cell.. etc. So unless you know what ur talking about stfu. obviously they done something right if it had a 9.4 rating @gamespot sold more than that piece of shazbot game gta:sa and sold more than t:v ever will in 1 day.
