Starwind 11-09-2004, 12:46 PM NOt that i am a point whore or anything but dont you guys think the point system in T:V blows chunks?
no points for blowing up gens, sensors, and inventories BUT
you get points for repairing them
another thing is why can we see the enemy waypoints for their deployable invo?
Also we can see the target info for enemy deployables. Was that intended?
That makes it even easier to find enemy deployabes and blow them up.
My .02
Phantom 11-09-2004, 12:47 PM You get points for blowing up sens+gens iirc.
KnightMare 11-09-2004, 12:48 PM its ass backwards, you get points if your turret kills somebody but none for destorying them. You get points for killing with the tank but none for killing the tank.
Starwind 11-09-2004, 12:49 PM You get points for blowing up sens+gens iirc.
i dont think so.
Phantom 11-09-2004, 12:53 PM I just checked, you get +1 for both.
Amadeus 11-09-2004, 12:54 PM i dont think so.
I do, I do it all the time on Cavern.
The point system is rather controversial though. Turret kills shouldn't get you points. If anything, killing turrets should (or both, to be fair).
Killing a manned vehicle should get you a point. Either that or make the vehicle blowing up and killing someone give a point to whomever destroyed the vehicle.
Flag returns shouldn't get you points, or should get more points the longer the flag was dropped before you returned it (better make this work only outside a certain radius of the stand).
Flag caps should get points for the person who grabbed the flag from the enemy stand in the first place. If someone grabs and caps without dying or using an invo/resupply station, he should get extra points.
Phantom 11-09-2004, 12:56 PM Yay points for vehc kills and blowing up turrets

[PETITION]
PunkRawk 11-09-2004, 12:56 PM points really dont matter...
Starwind 11-09-2004, 12:57 PM I just checked, you get +1 for both.
does the message pop up saying you destroyed a gen?
that maybe why i dont notice. IT should!
why would you get only 1 for blowing up a gen but get 2 for repairing it.
Why didnt they just stick to the T2 point system.
Phantom 11-09-2004, 12:58 PM does the message pop up saying you destroyed a gen?
that maybe why i dont notice. IT should!

Why didnt they just stick to the T2 point system.
The message pops up and you get 3 points for repairing a gen.
Amadeus 11-09-2004, 01:00 PM does the message pop up saying you destroyed a gen?

It should pop up. You use any HUD mods?
Repairing gets more points because it's harder (takes more time plus it's easier to take them down again meanwhile)
mc-fine 11-09-2004, 01:01 PM i dont think so.
you most definately get points for blowing up gens and sensors. And yes the message does popup.
Starwind 11-09-2004, 01:02 PM my own hud mod but i just dont remember it popping up with a +1 beside it. I get the repair popups but i just dont remember seeing the destroyed popups. Yo Phantom check to see if a message pops up in green like the repair message.
Starwind 11-09-2004, 01:04 PM should get more than a point. imo.
Moving to the other topics in my original post any thoughts on those?
Pachacutec 11-09-2004, 01:05 PM yea point system is really bizarre. style points only really count for midair discs. what about midair other stuff? what about combo midairs?
definitely needs some revisiting. be nice to see the general strategy for their point system.
i think points would serve a great use if they were split up into stat oriented stuff that currently t:v sooorta does, (one point for repairing gens etc)
the aggregate o v. d numbers are nice, but without a better "by function" sort they dont really work towards anything useful. (unless someone writes some php querying mechanism and keeps stat tracking somehow)
i like the style points because it encourages pubbers to be a little wilder in the shots they attempt.
Starwind 11-09-2004, 01:07 PM what about:
another thing is why can we see the enemy waypoints for their deployable invo?
Also we can see the target info for enemy deployables. Was that intended?
That makes it even easier to find enemy deployabes and blow them up.
Points don't really matter in a team game, but it's easy for me to say that when I score 108 on Spiridian without ever leaving my base.
Orcus 11-09-2004, 01:11 PM There are a couple of unfixed bugs where if you die right after you kill the gen or sensor, you don't get the points or the in game pop up. You do get points for destroying those items though.
BFGanksta 11-09-2004, 01:15 PM The t2 point system was a bit extreme.
The only additions I think they should add are:
Style point for mid air grenade/mortar launcher
1pt single buckler MA, 3pt double (That shazbot is hard)
Points for killing vehicle pilots/passengers by blowing up the vehicle. (I am a noob and try to kill the pilot before the vehicle.
2 points for a dropped flag that is capped. 3 for lamma cap. (I liked this in t2 but it isn't necessary.
And fix the bug where you die before blowing up the gen and not getting credit for it.
What I'd like is a real break down of points to show what you really do.
Flag O: Caps
Base O: gens, sensors, invs, deployable kills
Flag D: Returns, carrier kills, auto turret kills (These things are too easy to avoid)
Base D: repairs gens, invs, sensors
Midfield: Player kills, Manned vehicle kills (Credit for killing pilot/gunner/passengers)
So pretty much pizza/evo admin mod for T:V.
Cinderkarst 11-09-2004, 01:22 PM I think a style point should be added for a e-blade kill.
