I think that skilz guy was trying hard to call me a cheater a few days ago. It's funny how it's always people that I'm pretty sure are cheating that say someone else is cheating when in a server.

Correct... right up until the point any of them chose to "out" cheaters to the masses. Pointing fingers and naming names, without offering proof or details is never a particularly good policy.

It's not a good policy only if you are a cheater. Now they know they'll be outed if they get caught, they only have themselves to blame.

The power is such a turn on
Speaking of power, where is the global ban mutator with a database backend for server admins that you were talking about. ;)

No, it's not a good policy for the community as a whole if one wishes to learn from the mistakes of the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy Hearings.

Outing the guilty seems all well and fine, right up until a corrupt official abuses his power and outs an innocent (for whatever reason) simply because there is no check or balance in place to keep him honest.Taking any authority simply at their word is a good way to assure that the system will be abused at some point.

I'm not questioning whether this batch of players is guilty or not (I know from experience at least one of them is)... nor am I questioning the ability, means, or the right of those who accused them... I'm just saying that publicly naming names without offering up proof is a recipe for future disaster.

Hit the nail on the head there buddy. just ban em and leave it at that, no need to be wasting forum space with a needless thread like this.

I can see what you are saying, and as long as showing the proof of cheating does not place the detection method in jeopardy the proof will be made public. We will not publish evidence if there is a risk of exposing the methods.

As for publicly naming names, we have no choice. If we say nothing people start clamoring for an explanation of why they were banned from match play. The names get out one way or another in time so it's best to just get it over with.

There's also the fact that almost every person banned/suspended yesterday admitted that they had used an aimbot.

ownt. and its really not that hard when you see them in pubs blatantly using it... take a look around next time you go into a pub. if there's someone hitting you with a consistant 200m blaster shot, or getting more than one or two sniper headshots, or being a l33t chainer... pretty fookin blatant. i'm huntin around for these people now.

just make sure you demo your ass no matter what if you dont wanna be accused of it.

edit: play safe, play clean, and it's all good times.

We're not trying to run eachother in to the ground. We have the same goals and have our roots in the same place. If you look at each of our ladders they both sit at about the same size and quality (as we expected), though I'm sure TWL agrees with us in being dissapointed in the size of them (I was hoping for 3-4 times the number of current teams). Only time will tell on that one.

What?? This isn't about cheaters feeling bad, that obviously won't happen if they're willing to risk teammates/friends. This is making sure teams police themselves, and I believe that teams that win(or lose, in this case) with cheaters simply can't stay at that rung until they can get there without the cheaters.

Sorry to see it happen, but it's to be expected with the engine, IMO.
Can team members be responsible for the deeds of all of their teammates 24/7?

No, but it will make them think twice before recruiting players with reputations, and perhaps listening a little closer when a lot of the community is labelling them a cheater.

I don't feel any ill will towards PT, just 3 players. I hope to see you guys back in the top 10 soon.

Niether do I. Either way the games were good (Thank you to the 7 Honest PT for GGs).

In Fact i can quote Baxter on saying that map 2 Arid was 1 of the best Match Maps TF had ever participated in... in the sense of the teamwork, energy and Last Second Return Drama.

See you guys again soon. GL with the Rebuild.
