I still have the PC Accelerator issue with Donna DiErico as the Tribes cover babe (May 2000) -- big shootout between the next gen shooters on the cover, Tribes 2, Halo, and Team Fortress 2.

Well Microsoft bought Bungie and moved the game from PC/Mac to Xbox, then put more than 500 million behind Xbox with the Halo series as the flagship.

A few of us at the office went down to the Halo 2 midnight sale at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles.

I wore my Tribes: Vengeance shirt and made a few new friends while I was there -- here's one of em.



That's great. Now if only we could get some of his friends to like the bug fest that was released to us this October.

Seriously... imagine your at a games trade show. Up high on a platform with flashy lights and lots of glitz is MasterChief. To the side in a more humble booth is Julia, decked out in tight lyca and body armour... un-zipped in all the right places.

Now, unless there's something wrong with you (or aren't male) are you really going to be more interested in "the Halo Guy" or the "Princes of Pain"?

Same goes for mags 'n stuff.

It's not about people buying the game 'cause it has babes in it, it's about getting the advertisments noticed.

Us males (straight ones, that is) have this built in reflex that makes us notice hot chicks. You put on on a full page ad decked out in armour and looking all fearce and I garantee you will notice the ad.

It's a low blow, but it works and would be a smart move on VUGs part.
Besides a hot chick can be got fer cheap.

Want to sell some games, well how about doing it the old fashioned way, by being innovative instead of countin on cheap gimmicks that won't work anyway cause they have no basis in marketing reality.

You can sell anything with dogs, kids and women.
