VUG - How about an update?

So here we sit at the beginning of another week, more than a month after the retail release of T:V, and we have no update from VUG. Last week Menzo was kind enough to say a patch will be released when it is ready but gave us no indication of when that will be or how far along they are now.

We are playing a game that is STILL running on a beta release of the dedicated server package and it is showing by all the complaints of gameplay that get registered here daily. I seriously think it would be in VUG's best interest to give up some sort of update before this game gets completely trashed and becomes "not worth it".

Seriously, how hard is it to come in here and say "hey, we have a couple more weeks of blah blah blah, we are looking at correcting the follow, blah blah blah" Yes there is the fear of setting a date on a patch because your track record already sucks but you deserver that. So just give us an idea of when you are going to unscrew an already screwed up situation? I for one am tired of paying good money to host a T:V server and not have a proper working server package, let alone a game that doesnt run like it should.

Cliff Notes: VUG owes us an update!

They don't care.

This is a moot point. We know they dont care, they have already showed us they dont. Like I said in another post, they are a business. Businesses only exist to make money. They have our money, now they will take there sweet time to correct any wrong doings.

Businesses must make money to exist, but that's not the sole reason a business exists, or everyone would be running porn sites.

A business does not exist purely to make money. People who run businesses, and run them well, are passionate about the products and serving customers. Anyone who claims a business is purely out to get money has never ran a business.

Yeah. You know they could just completely ignore us, but the Tribes community being as passionite as they are could completely effing ruin thier reputation as good developers. I think it's in their best intrest to have the game running blissfully before people start to turn them down for contracts.

I too am anxiously waiting for a patch, but no way in hell are they gonna give us a clue as to what is being fixed or when it will be fixed. Don't get me wrong, I wish they could keep us informed, but "that ain't gonna happen".

I just hope its sooner than later..... I'm about ready to move on to the next game.

Yes, the dev teams lack of communication is very concerning.

Has Sierra/VUG ever dealt out the dough to a game developer to come up with an anti-cheat for any of their games? I know HL1 and it's mods have one, but that's cause Valve fronts their own money from the small fortune they made off of HL sales. I'm honestly worried that it's gonna come down to some talented members of the community to come up with a good anti-cheat, as was the case with T2.

Steering this hijacked thread back on topic....

It hasn't been a month - Tribes:Vengeance came out Oct 7th. At least on paper, anyways. But the spirit of the comment is correct: We're playing a game that was signed off by VUG QA as retail-release quality yet we're still dealing with numerous issues in regards to gameplay, functionality, and usability. We're still using the beta dedicated server. The developers should be back from their post-release vacation/break (if they took one, I hope they did) yet we hear almost nothing. About the only thing we hear is marketing doublespeak from Menzo and guy.welch about how good the game is and how well it is being rated.

I've been a gamer for 20+ years. I've seen games that rocked everyone's world, and I've seen games that sucked harder than a desperate prostitute. Only recently has there been this ... corporate antipathy for the community. Maybe it's the rise of mega-studios, maybe it's the rise of the rabid fanbois and the equally rabid haters. Whatever the reason, don't leave us hanging. Nothing hurts worse than bad PR... and good PR requires only a handful of posts a week.

They should bring the game to a feature complete level. i.e. Tournement mode , observer/spectator, performance issues and team affiliation working. Not to mention tweaking the game play.

I played CS last night for the first time in my life and looking at how polished valves products are, both steam and the actual game highlight how incomplete T:V is. It might get glowing single player reviews, but i am starting to lose faith in multiplayer product.

I'd rather they take their time and release something good than be rushed into releasing something that just needs another patch.

Really guys... sometimes it pays to have some patiance.

CS has been a giant work in progress and plagued by cheats for the past 5 years. CS:S may look impressive, but it's the same god damn game.
