Ok first of all, 817 people from just TribalWar have bought the game. Another 450 have "planned" on buying it. This brings an estimated player base to 1200+ just from TW'ers alone. Not to mention all kinds of people I know personally who have never heard of tribal war but bought the game. If you throw in all the random people that dont visit this website who bought it , then the numbers go far beyond all of these assumptions of a "low player base"

I do not beleive the game has been released world wide (europe?) so we can expect to double that figure or so soon.

Still yes that only seems to be what 2-3 thousand players? For tribes, I would say that is good. Personally I'd be happy with a solid 1,000 players online at any given time. So yes the "low player base" is confusing at times based off of these rough numbers , but I still have faith.

The thing that puzzles me most, is why do people go out of their way to come here and run their mouth about how the game sucks, or is an incredible failure? Whats that you say? why am I going out of my way to support it? Well that is a preety obvious answer, I like the game. I haven't however, signed up for an account to a CS forum and said how much I dislike that game. Or any other game for that matter, I just dont associate myself with anything or anyone with that game...why bother? So how many of you just sit and whine cuz you didn't get your one feature in but still play the game? How many of you cuss and bitch 24/7 but actually have a copy on your desk? What is seriously stopping you from just having some god damn fun? After playing T:V I just cannot sit down and have fun with Tribes 1 anymore, cant do it. Graphics, speed, gameplay, etc....I just can't go back. Preety soon many will follow suit and you wont have anything to go back to. What then.... You'll have T2....or whatever that game is called and then Tribes Vengeance.

***cliffs*****

I support T:V
It's not a failure
Stop complaining

p.s- and if you do wish to come in here and bitch and moan about how it is a failure I want to give you a challenge. Try proving it is a failure...see how that goes over.

Everyone I know (which is not too many in the grand scheme of things) is waiting on HL2, which will have a fantastic single player, but come up lacking in the multiplayer department. People will come around to the best multiplayer experience currently on the market, yes they will.

Perhaps player base is not quite the right term. I just never see more than 250-290 on at a time, that's all. Tribes I and II had way more in the early days.

I'm hoping that it's mainly because the less-hardcore of us are still playing the SP game and we'll see more of them online in a month or two, and at Christmas.

I don't know if you were responding to my post or not, but in case you were, I will reiterate. I love the game. It's my favorite shooter I've ever played. It's not perfect, but what game is? I just want to see more players online. I post here not to bitch, but to see if anything can be done to make the atmosphere more welcoming.

Cheers,
LB

You're dead-on correct, here, by the way. Just realize that not all of us who voice issues are whining. Some criticism is constructive.

I hate the whiners just as much as you. Don't like the game? Don't play it! Just don't waste the time of people who do. If you know so much, try writing your own. Trust me, the engineering is no easy task, and that's way easier than making a game fun and balanced.

I just think there are things we players can do about it. For example (and I'm talking about others, not you, Blitz), stop bragging about your "newbie slaughtering" skills. First of all, it's nothing to brag about. I can slaughter newbies, and I'm no veteran. Second, it's obnoxious, and turns new players off. If you beat the other team 27-0, maybe it's time to give some pointers, not just brag and shout out "OWNED" like an schoolyard idiot.

So I'm here voicing these concerns in SUPPORT of T:V, not to whine.

So once again, I ask -- any other positive ideas?

Why do I complain? Because I've been here 2 years, I've played Tribes and Tribes 2. I haven't just signed up to bitch about a game - I would never do that. I voice my opinion on the game because it's no more or less valid than the party fighting for t:v.
I've seen many a forumer on different boards not purchase this game mostly because it's been "simplified".
Nobody is playing the game, and personally I don't give a eff if comp is good. I want to jump in and play a pub anytime I want. Perhaps it was the release date clashing with other big games. Perhaps it was the piss poor marketing of the game, or the god awful box art. Anyway you slice it, in regards to player numbers online, t:v is a failure.
