So hows T:V?Zarick 10-24-2004, 02:45 PM very unlikely that we will see another tribes. If this one doesn't sell well they won't bother wasting money and resources. Hansel 10-24-2004, 02:52 PM T:V mp is now a blast with more maps. With enough support from VUGames and IG this game could evolve to something really great. With SP that i enjoyed a lot i think it was great bargain. People who cant accept the changes, only lose. menes 10-24-2004, 02:59 PM very unlikely that we will see another tribes. If this one doesn't sell well they won't bother wasting money and resources. It s very likely considering irrational saw the merit in it and gave you T:V. Won't be long til ID with have a Quake and/or Doom with jetpacks, as well as Halo too. We'll see soon mc-fine 10-24-2004, 04:29 PM Funny how these threads are always full of the 8 ppl in my ignore list ppl. I agree with Ontrose. Long as VU/IG support it can only get better and its load of fun as is... menes 10-24-2004, 05:50 PM I really don't need any help ignoring you, or any other natural shazbot sucking maggot. KI 10-24-2004, 06:28 PM Things an old vet is having problems with: Performance is ok, but feels choppy online.. compared with say hosting your own server and just you playing on it, which is smooth as glass for me, everything feels off. Two-shot mines are really annoying, at least when it comes to pubs, because of the rare coordination effort, it's tough to do anything cowboy (I suppose a good thing come play time) The maps are a crapshoot, some feel really nice, others feel uninspired, and a bit too small for me.. I prefer maps akin to a raindance or snowblind size. On top of that, other than uh, highlands I think it is, not much overall terrainheight variation.. kinda miss the epic feel of T1 myself. Combine that with the fact that everything feels "big" on screen. Other than that, I've been enjoying it, but I'm not sure it has the staying power that I was hoping for.. we shall see :) KI BrightEyes 10-24-2004, 06:50 PM BumP Save your money. EbolaVirus 10-24-2004, 08:03 PM too many thing missing IE: No deployable weapons in inventory/Deployable Inventrory Station. Just to mention one of many things missing. Wait till it hits the bargain bin F [a] C E 10-24-2004, 09:47 PM base is satisfactory. play is pretty balanced, maps are a bit tight and it seems as if level designers neglected existence of mortar & grenade launcher... all in all worth the money IMO. looking forward to Duel/TAC gametypes. *cough*c'monmodders*cough * DudeofDeath 10-25-2004, 02:10 AM As much as you'd like to see such a price drop happen, it won't. A price drop in the near future is highly probable. Games like Halo2 and Half-Life2, and many others are vying for everyones dollars, regardless if they are all PC Games or not. T:V appears to have had a bad launch,(although numbers of peeps online seems to have increased slightly in the last week), which means if it hasn't even busted the Top 10 Charts so far, wait until those killer apps come out. At the least they will have to drop the price to $39.99 retail,(at the latest), by the end of November or beginning of December. Personally I think to really help sell it'll have to drop to $29.99 by the end of November. I think IG did about as good a job making T:V as any other game company could have, except maybe Dynamix. They made the game how the publisher(VU) wanted it to be made, how they were hired to make it. The game has alot of good things going for it. The best part is they are including the TribesEd Dev Kit so that diehard Tribers can modify this game how they please. (It still seems to be buggy though, suppossed to be some kinda update for it coming). The editor looks pretty awesome, I believe the UnReal Engine costs developers $500,000 to use. We have been given a modified version for free... This community has some amazing talent when it comes to coding and stuff, and good shazbot is gonna happen because of this eventually. The game is getting a bad rap from many in here, (I've said shazbot too), and it's scaring away peeps that may purchase it, that may increase the chances that a Tribes4 may be made someday. They way I see it, Tribes 1 and 2 gave me thousands of hours of enjoyment, I don't mind paying $50 bucks for a game I may not like everything about now, knowing that it will likely be modded, and knowing that by purchasing it, it will likely increase the chances that the Tribes franchise continues on. Have faith in the community, and get in the game... BlodBath-VuP- 10-25-2004, 02:40 AM A price drop in the near future is highly probable. Every sale it gets is one more that some Marweas-clone might quote to a publisher to get money for a new Tribes. I don't want to beat the series into the ground, but I've spent almost 6 years playing this game and would love to see new takes on it, fresh ideas, and continued support into the future. Phantom 10-25-2004, 02:43 AM very unlikely that we will see another tribes. If this one doesn't sell well they won't bother wasting money and resources. Who else would love to see an open-source tribes4? Nobody would have to bend down because of noobs(Read: Making it more accessible), no time pressure etc. (Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying T:V, I'm gonna buy it today.) Krayvok` 10-25-2004, 02:45 AM Yeah, I've been playing the Demo, and I like it, but there needs to have some bug fixes. I'm probably going to get it for Christmas, but otherthan that i'm going to wait. I really hop they come out with Xtreme Ski like they did in T1. I also would like to start doing maps, but i can't find the program to make them. If anyone can give me a link to download it I'd love it. Thanks for the comments guys I want to be updated as bugs/glitchs are fixed. Keep up the great work and kill me some n00bs! menes 10-25-2004, 08:27 AM Sorry, I can't support a community that has a history of repeated letdowns. Support them and next they add skateboards or beaniebags. This time around they will have to actually "earn" my money the old fashion way. By delivering something of unique value. Til than I'm riding T2 to the death. Torrid 10-25-2004, 09:02 AM Single Player is actually very good, which was surprising to me becuase that's not really why I bought the game in the first place. Multiplayer is.... well you'll need to be on a real good server to enjoy it (or play competitively). You're going to get a ton more 24-2 pubs than 12-10 pubs, and we'll see about comp play. They made doing things in the game much easier than before (skiiing, reapiring, deploying) and the maps much smaller. The T2 mpb is back in TV but they call it the rover now, which is faster than the T2 mpb, not nearly as durable and you can spawn at it which is, well, IMO it sucks. They also added a grappling hook which lets you do a quasi-spiderman thing and swing around things - you can slingshot yourself too with that and combine that with the energy pack's afterburner (or whatever you wanna call it) you can achieve real high speeds. They replaced the pervious OOB warnings with a OOB fence (you can't go past it). There's other stuff too but I need to go back to work now. What some people (not necessairly referring to you) seem to overlook is that Tribes has no chance of breaking the top 10, ever. Even with the simplifications here and there, the game is still pretty complex, and requires more skill than a lot of players are willing to earn for a single game. That, however, doesn't mean that it will be a failure. BrightEyes 10-25-2004, 10:40 AM BumP Save your money. Until then, why not play the SP or play base to get a feel for what needs changing? | ||
