I am working on a new .Hit I can edit my file 128x128 Set to dxt3 normal with alpha, it imports fine, it works perfectly on my local machine, but when I try to join a server it says Engine.Missmatch. Its the exact same way you do a Skin, I have not read your skin tutorial and I will do that, but have you actualy played on a pub with an edited skin?

I read the tutorial.. I may have figured out what went wrong..

good work on that.

I've gone online before with some of my stuff. If you did it right, they should work fine. If you're having trouble with getting skins to work right, I highly suggest you open up the Single Player skins that come with the game (Daniel Pheonix Medium, Ninja Light) to look at how they did stuff. That's mostly how I figured out a lot of stuff, plus a lot of experimentation to figure out exactly how all the effects (reflections, glow) work.

hmm, i read the tutorial, i think you may be doing a bunch of stuff you dont need to, i followed the instructions in the vengeance art guide released the other day, that barely filled half a page of instructions and it worked just fine in-game, i needed no pointer file, i saved the skin reference info into the same pkg as the shaders and put it in the skins folder, i have it to my clanmates and it worked just fine

what i did

- Open the texture browser and select "file/import" browse to your skin files.
- In the "package name" field type in the name of your new skin.(eg Myskin) press OK
- If you want to make a Shader for the skin do this now too
- Save the package in the "content/skins" folder
- Go to the Class browser and find "gameplay.skininfo", right-click it and select "new" Choose a name .(eg Myskin) and also add the same package name .(eg Myskin) you just created for the textures. (I always make the package, class and skin name the same)
- You can now use the dropdown list in the class browser to select your package. (eg Myskin)
- Open your new skin class. To assign the appropriate textures you have imported in the skin package, press the arrow next the right of “Meshskins” and “add” 2 new skin slots. Change to the texture browser, select the appropriate skin, and “use” them in the skin slot.
- To assign the mesh, open the Animation Browser (A icon) and load the package containing the mesh you have skinned, (eg LightArmour.pkg). Select the mesh you want, go back to the skin class and select “use” in the “applicablemesh” field
- Save package again in the content/skins directory.
- In-game the skin will now appear in on that mesh when you press the prev/next skin buttons in the inventory station.

The tutorial goes over a lot more than just getting skins in to the game (which is the easiest part). Also most of the tutorials for things so far seem to be really abrreviated, and don't include much detail.

And I thought I'd also go over shaders and such.

Just wondering can you skin other things besides players? Vehicles etc?
