Ironically my post had nothing to do with T:V, the game, and here you had a chance to take responsibility for something and you chose to pass it on to the user of your product, how respectable ;)

Or VUG can simply have a simple way to prove that you bought the game, and issue you a new CD key.

I'm sure there's some way to get a new CD key from them if you paid for the game. Though this hasn't happened to me for T:V, I have had my cd key stolen for games in the past. All you have to do is call them, explain your situation, and quite possibly worst case scenario, send them a copy of your UPC and receipt.

I swear, some people act like this is the first PC game they've ever played when they complain about things like this.

no cd cracks and the like are commonly used to not only crack the game (so you think nothing of it) but also transmit your product key back to the creator (usually along with others like halflife keys etc).

Dont run them, or if your going to, have a firewall to check nothing is going on behind your back.

Yes, because installing unknown programs that interface with Tribes:Vengeance in unknown ways can't possibly alter the game in any meaningful way! We all know that PC compatibility is an exact science so clearly a NO-CD HACK couldn't be the culprit.

How many people had to resort to exactly what you described to even play the game? As if SecuROM never brings issues of its own to paying customers.

Well before I tried anything i spoke to someone else from the bittah community who had the same issue, and they wern't using any patch and had exactly the same issue.

Way to show you dont know what the fuk your talking about...

Easy solution. Format HD, install T:V, run. If cd-key still in use, return to store.

Unfortunately, Menzo's permanently cracked and his warranty period has passed, so we can't return him....

CD hacks are for fools.

1) the cd crack isn't to blame for this

2) I dont see the problem with a no-cd crack for a legally owned game (thats why they're allowed to exist after all)

3) Why the hell should you need the cd to play it when you have a product key?

I have never had a nocd patch cause my cd key to be stolen. Maybe you were trying to use a cheat? That does suck though.

other guy (clean install, no cracks) cant join a server for 3 days.
reinstalls
works fine

i cant join a server
go to sleep, try again 8 hours later, still cant join a server
reinstall
works fine

(both get cd-key in use message)

noticing a trend here? it has nothing to do with the cd-crack, and we're sure as shazbot not using any cheats. Both of us used dashes in our cd keys the first install and left them out during the second install. Co-incidence? Perhaps, but
hopefully this'll help anyone else that has the same problems, rather than being an asshat like Menzo who thinks its far easier to blame a crack than god forbid, admit the game has an issue.
