Origim 10-23-2004, 07:21 PM I did not know that it was a bug until I saw the following hint "Captured enemy Rovers will appear in your spawn menu where you can select to spawn at them" (wording is not exact).
Well, I'm here to say that after 10 captured enemy Rovers, NONE of them worked as a spawn point for our team. This needs to be fixed.
BFGanksta 10-23-2004, 07:59 PM Or the hint needs to be removed?
Did you use your REK?
Err, wrong game.
Plasma 10-23-2004, 08:36 PM The spawnpoints no doubt work for the opposing team :P
Antares Reign 10-23-2004, 08:36 PM Have you tried spawning in a captured one with a person in it? (driving/gunning)
Edit: Even if you can't, how is having a false hint a "MAJOR BUG"?
ViRGE 10-24-2004, 02:35 AM The spawnpoints no doubt work for the opposing team :PNo, I've double-checked that, once you take their Rover, they lose spawning abilities there.

If they intended it to be a spawn point, and it simply isn't, I'd say that's a pretty major bug.
It's not crippling to the gameplay tho, amd maybe even beneficial.
A major bug is one which fundamentally breaks the game. This is a minor one.
Amadeus 10-24-2004, 07:36 AM Leave the hint in and make it true please :)
JimBodkins 10-24-2004, 11:11 AM I like the game, but DEV had a brain fart here. Spawning requires two locations. To think that a mobile spawn point designed to integrate with one teams systems would suddenly function correctly with another teams 'alien' systems makes absolutely no sense. I believe, stolen or not, the original team should still be able to use them to spawn. The technology didnt change for God's sake, just the damned driver. :)
Theta 10-24-2004, 11:27 AM Hmm, should we spend an hour of time making it work like it was originally designed, or spend 0.5 seconds to remove the hint.

If that would have been a positive way of thinking, T:V would have only one weapon and no packs (why bother implementing stuff which is going to have bugs anyway?).

What if the spawning mechanism uses a set frequency to communicate with the team (much like a radio), and the driver can set the frequency to that of their team?
Hmmmmmmmm?

When the game has been released with poor sales, what do you think the dev team would work on? Probably something more important than a silly thing like this.

Ah, you mean something similar to taking an American TV to Hungary and watching all the white noise on the screen? (Just before it blew up from using incorrect voltages) :)
The drivers are 'drivers' not engineers. The military wouldnt encourage 'drivers' to try to change 'teleporter' chanels like a radio. Even if that were possible, It would probably require an engineer. There are no engineers in Tribes :).
Amadeus 10-24-2004, 01:12 PM Do you call an engineer every time you want to change channels on your radio? ;)

In the army, they do. Yes.
TeckMan 10-24-2004, 04:14 PM How incredibly thick you do you need to be to argue about the realism of spawn points? The entire idea is rediculous in the first place. just stfu.
Amadeus 10-25-2004, 08:38 AM In the army, they do. Yes.
Well, this is the distant future, so now they have comfortable little knobs to do the trick.
So there. :)
