[RELEASE] Skin Packaging Instructions

If you haven't been able to package skins yet. I have typed out instructions that I hope will be helpful. I have found a way to put the skin textures and pointer info in one file that goes in the skins folder.

First off, the art kit that you can dl from our site, has instructions included.

Open TVed.

Open texture browser.

Import your dds files, (both head and body) you will see a box pop up where you name your pkg file in that box. Remember the exact name because the same name has to be used exactly with the class part of the file.

Open class browser and choose gameplay. Make sure both the small circles on the tool bar are selected, and that the all button isn't selected. Find skininfo on the list, right click and chose new.

Name the new skininfo the same as the texture pkg name. Now unselect and reselect the newly named file in the class browser. You should see only one line in the lower window. Right click that line and modify the names (both Name and package...leave parent class alone) to be the same as the texture pkg if they aren't already. Now right click the line and chose "default properties" and you have to add a line to jetpackskins and meshskins add 2 lines. Now use the texture tab and make sure your body texture is highlighted, then use the class tab and where it says "None" under jetpackskins click at the right end of the box and chose "use". That should put the texture info in that line. Repeat that in the 2 lines under "meshskins". Understand that different skins use the head for 0 and the body for 1. If you get in game and see that your head and body is messed up then change where the head and body textures are in the class browser part of the file and resave.
Now save this pkg and put it in the contents/skin folder.

Hopefully this will get everyone skinning. And please send me any dds or tga files you are having trouble packaging and send me any working skin pkg you have so I can add it to my sites download section.

Thank you very much for this tutorial.

I followed these steps but my skin wasn't working but the step you didn't mentioned was that you have to go to Animation browser to choose the apropriate mesh, then go back to class and go to the "default propperties" and then go to the applicablemesh input field and press the button on the right of the input field, and then choose use ;)

This skinning solution isn't getting enough love. Used it yesterday, worked perfectly (minus the mesh assignment omited). Much easier to have just the one file. Thank you Cybergyn!
