The map is up on Armored Division (COBRA) ARENA

I would like to see 3 more totem poles around the flag for grappling. Could make grabbing the flag interesting and make chasing the cappers even more interesting. Just keep them far apart from one another so you can swing from one to another.

I would also like to see the open layout base a bit closer to the flagstand for easier base defense setup. Right now, both bases are quite a distance from the flag.

I would enjoy seeing some more planned routes on the terrain. I found myself constantly going the wrong way and forcing myself to look at my radar to get back on track.

Turrets for flag DEF don't seem to do much. Maybe a few floating bases for flag defence and turrets might help.

I would leave the 2 rovers in. They are a lot of fun in pub, probably not a cool idea in competition.

Great job so far!!!

Can't wait to see the next/final version! Keep up the great work! BTW, the new sky looks sick!

Just finished tooling around in Dash, I like it. Rovers make for interesting strategy especially depending on their placement. Not enough flat space to make a rover-blitz very useful.

Keep it up, TseTse. :signed:

another spawn near the 'open' base would be nice...
oh and blah blah visuals etc

Thanks for all the great ideas and feedback. Keep them coming.

I know i personally find it helpful and hope other mappers reading this find it helpful too.

As for having a spawn closer to the flag, well, that's a core element of the design. I wanted to cut back on the turtlefests and that seemed like one of the keys to doing so. There are lots of counter-balancing stuff for other problems, but if it gets to be a total mess i will change things.

You DO have the option to bring one of the rovers there.

- When you add the two platforms for HD please put in two Catapults. I think this will help the LD chase down the Cappers.

interesting idea. i might try that

I like the spawn points away from the flag. keeps the game rolling.

After playing that map with the team recon grapple monkeys, and I'm thinking that those totem poles need some rethinking. They would grab the flag spin around the pole three to five times and launch themselves back to their base. I doubt they even touched the terrain till they hit their flag stand. Ctathos got up so high I couldn't see him. WTF?

Nonetheless it is a spectactular map.

Yes, i think the pole could be a serious issue (which goes for all of TV, not just this map). In early playtesting i saw somebody basically do a fling almost from one flag to the other.

I'm not gonna kill the poles just yet, tho...

I cant recall the maps name but it was in a mod (Isomniax) anyway in T1 :)

How about a map way high up in the sky (cant see below) where you can only grapple around on platforms to move around from base to base which are floating up in the sky.

I lub it. So much fun skiing around. Spawns are kinda far from flag meaning if you die at flag grab before you can suit up capper is long gone. But I guess that forces ppl to make use of the rovers so its not a bad thing. Position rovers so that you can cut cappers off if need be. When playing ppl didn't seem to touch the rover. But I guess that was cause skiing and chasing is lots of fun. As more folk play and get used to it the rovers will become vital.

Nice to see more rolling hills. Very traditional Tribes.

A++++ would play again.

ps. not feeling the pole for grapple whoreage but I'm not too bitchy. Long as you get a solid hit on the capper during grab it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

i noticed that you can get goind to fast, lol. i like.

you should place peices of broken machinery, industrial crane booms (arid),remants from a past battle, etc, placed sparadically throughout the map.

I expect to release the final by Sunday if all goes well. I want to keep it simple and not spend much more time on it.

I added 2 more floating pads around the flag...

However, with those it will be INSANE grappling around the flag lol

I also swapped chain turrets for those existing burner turrets, as i sorta suspect they might be needed (and can easily be destroyed).

I placed deployable repairers at the bunkers by the flag.

I've done quite a bit of work on the terrain, and really smoothed it out with some more little hills in the middle.

Tomorrow I'll be playtesting it some more, adding new sky and retexturing the terrain.

Excellent Job ZenTseTse! I played Dash all night just because the skiing was so awesome. I really like these simple, rolling hills maps. I hope these new floating pads won't mess up my routes. The skiing is so great! Thanks for bringing great skiing maps to T:V.

I played this for about an hour tonight, and um, had to drag myself off basically. Very route-friendly, and I got some insane speeds and height, even without the grappler.

Chasing's gonna be fun on this map.

Glad to hear folks dig it. I enjoy it too.

I've done a TON of smoothing and terrain tweaks, so i think the final version will play and look 100% better.

My only concern is about this new floating pads. They make the map into a grappler whoring extravaganza, and i can't decide whether it's too much or just right. :)

grapple whoring?

grapple whoring?

Yes.

Since august or so, I've seen the gameplay evolve dramatically where skilled grappler users (beyond Cavern) can dominate a map entirely. I think grappling is an awesome thing, but i also see the impact on general gameplay in some problematic ways.

On this map, with the existing obelisk and the new floating pads, it gives these grapplers the chance to basically fling themselves in sweet spiderman actions when grabbling the flag and getting a FAST first boost away towards home territory.

Until your average player on LD knows how to launch themselves after enemy flag carriers and to catch them, gameplay will become less and less about flag chases and more and more about grabs/standoffs.

Ironically, this map's design was an attempt to balance that out a bit so I'm not sure how to proceed...

Somebody PMd me that the terrain was invisible for them.

Has anybody else had this problem?
