game-revolution.net gave the game a great review. I think I will stick with them. They have a serious issue with giving any game a good grade above a C+.

Bah, you want a negative review check this one out:

 can't  stop  laughing

As for the one the thread is about, if its a review in which you insult people for being melodramatic why would you sayI mean, for the love of god, there are a ton of different character models shown throughout the single player, at least let me choose one of them that has a face, instead of a lifeless helmet.
Of course when you're talking about a make or break subject like helmets, maybe that could pass.

Also, why would you start out a 2 out of 5 review by saying It's a decent game on its own accord, but nothing warranting the Tribes label.which basically translates to mean "It would be okay if it wasn't called Tribes."

The writer never even supports the claim that it doesn't live up to Tribes. His biggest problems are limited to graphics, voice-acting and being to much like other games (many of those he compares them to based ideas off of the tribes series in the first place).

And then he says the weapons aren't diverse enough and you see them everywhere in the fps market.

Right.

Battlefield 1942 weapons (in his language); machinegun, knife, machinegun, grenade, shotgun, pistol, bazooka, machinegun, pistol, shotgun, bazooka, knife, and grenade (did I mention machinegun).

Tribes takes out the repeats, he doesn't understand that the diversity of Tribes has always been in skill and using the same weapon for different functions as opposed to remembering a giant list of weapons that aren't profoundly different in usage besides the way they look and sound.

And just to add another useless jab, make sense out of this; you can outfit your person with one of three armor types, eight weapons (of which one is a grappling hook, the other is a defensive/offensive Frisbee buckler)

The game-rev review was on point. Reads much like one I wrote myself.

Corrected since you insisted on getting political nonsense in here.

"Two things I really enjoyed about the game were both related to player movement. One is the use of jetpacks as the primary mode of transportation, and the other is the use of "skiing" in order to conserve jetpack energy, and move across the landscape at blazing speeds. Both of these mechanisms work very well in the game, and I found that player movement was actually fun at times; something that cannot be said of other large-terrain games like those in the Battlefield series."

The rest of the review is moronic, but this piece gives me hope that even idiots are catching on to what this game is about...

They gave Doom3 a 9.5/10. Their opinions no longer matter to me.

I'm not a huge fan of T:V, I agree with wiggle! that they dumbed it down and any noob can put up a fight now.
Still and all, the review was pretty stupid. I mean, he says "wait for something revolutionary, like Halo2 or Halflife2" . . . I mean c'mon, Im sure those games will be great and all, but *revolutionary*? Even T:V, tribes lite, is revolutionary compared to those. The multiplayer portion of the review was nearly worthless.

I always laugh when ppl say that. Cutting down on automated weapons that do all the work is somehow dumbing down the game for newbies. Its a retarded argument seeing as the game plays much faster and puts more emphasis on individual skill.

I wish the Assault pod was better designed in terms of speed and fire power. I wish we still had a cloak and ammo pack. I wish we had waypoints and a command screen. I wish the ground vehicle movement was controlled by keyboard only. I wish they included built-in voice comm. I wish the retail had more traditional maps with more rolling hills.

Removing options? Yes. Making it easier for newbies? Hell no. With how flat most of the retail maps are its good they even have a ski button.

Seeing as you care that much, I vote Kerry and Bush both get shot in the face and anarchy rule the US of A.

OMG! What a pile of shazbot this review is.

People who say shazbot like:
Tribes: Vengeance is by no means a bad, but it chose one of the worst times to be released that it possibly could. DOOM 3 and Call of Duty: United Offensive still provide absolutely amazing single-player experiences, while Halo 2 and Half-Life 2, two of the biggest FPSs to ever be released, are just around the corner. Do yourself a favor, and save up for the games, which will be absolutely revolutionary
make me    .

I guess you either get Tribes or you don't get Tribes.

I effing get it and it owns. T:V is just about everything you could hope for at this point.

I'd like to throw a peanut or two here...

In regards to the wiggle/blitz hissy-fit earlier in the thread:

Wiggle, you say that the game is dumbed down and any noob can put up a fight. Then you say later that blitz is a worthless HO, and that you'd essentially own him if/when you ever came across him.

So like...which is it? If any noob can put up a fight, then you won't own him at all. Right?
